It'd be $129M for the get out of jail card, but the departees control their media rights.

ACC drops below 15 schools and ESPN can will exercise its option to renegotiate the media deal.

How much are these schools worth together -- taking into consideration that the media rights of the Mag 7 + Dook + GT also will be available?

the education in the Deep South is awful. im pretty sure they only think in the short term with zero long term foresight. they literally think people outside of their college towns care if they just play each other.

Duke has already offered to take zero-point-zero from the Big 10 for a number of years.

I'd bet (half) money that Miami will be forced to take a half-share. Not out of any blemish against UM, but because of market forces.

if Oregon and wash took half share, miami will have no choice along with us not having our media rights
 
Just want to warn again to anyone rooting for "SEC to just go and rest will play". The BIG10 will almost certainly also walkaway if SEC does and with them goes most the media $. We are quickly approaching the end game. Luckily, miami's leadership has been preparing for this moment for years. Just need to wait for the match to light the fuse and stand back. Next 12 months should provide a ton of clarity on timing.

"Whatever must happen ultimately should be done immediately"

Very confident the additional $54M extra it would cost UM and the ACC's other SEC/B1G targets to withdrawal now instead of three years from now when the exit fee drops to $75M could be made up in the interim.

ESPN and the SEC will collectively do whatever necessary to both expand and lock down the conference's region under their umbrella.

A decent amount of leverage for Miami, FSU, Clemson, UNC et al once they're free from the ACC's watered-down GoR

That buyout $ has little to do with the timing equation. its more the unknown and the risk currently with the CFP format undecided, Governance in flux, media deals possibly going into early negotiation windows, possible federal legislation, the list goes on. The Big10 and SEC are not going to add more mouths to feed (And more importantly Fox and ESPN arent paying for new adds) until there is more clarity on what the landscape will look like post 2030. Too much at risk and, for example, Miami announcing a move to the BIG10 in 3 day or 12 months has very little impact in grand scheme except helping all of us here sleep better at night.

I think @caneingville is correct. They're playing chicken knowing the importance of their conference is inflated.

Guys on here think just because they hate the SEC- the rest of the college football world will be fine without them. When in fact you need both big boy conferences for all of this to work.

If you go back to 2000- the SEC has won 14 titles- if you add TX and OU, it’s 16.

The notion on this board that the SEC is “done” is dumb and yelled out of hate for the conference. They produce way too much NFL talent and pull in a **** ton of money for that to be remotely true.

If they somehow bolt - the BIG AINT rolling with the rest of the conferences- they will attach themselves to the SEC and keep rolling.

Miami needs to beg, borrow, and steal their way out of the ACC.

NIL (july) and the relaxation of transfer rules (April) started prior to the 2021 season. Amazing coincidence that since then we’ve seen more parity.
