On a serious note, I wonder if ESPN will end up offering something to DII and DIII schools to help try to get this through. Maybe more exposure on the website, more games on ESPN+, etc.? They are going all in on ESPN Bet and have a good amount of negotiating power.
Think long term about the bill though. What's the big deal in getting this passed? Who cares if college athletes have to pause betting for 3-4 years? But what if betting companies can use those players as spokespeople to entice their fans to bet? And NFL fans already bet. What they want is the college student and younger now.I doubt it
college students have been betting on sports via bovada from the moment it was a thing. they just can now do the same things everyone else canThink long term about the bill though. Of course they have.college students have been betting on sports via bovada from the moment it was a thing. they just can now do the same things everyone else can
so you end the x schools players are betting on games calls that have been going on (i.e. Mateer and OSU Michigan had fans call the NCAA on each other)Of course they have.
And college athletes have been doing it too. So why do they need to pass a bill to allow them to do it legally now?
I don’t know. People are always doing this stuff. If that was the case, then the NCAA would have killed tons of recruiting violations years ago.so you end the x schools players are betting on games calls that have been going on (i.e. Mateer and OSU Michigan had fans call the NCAA on each other)

Great point. But, will they wipe the slate clean for all the athletes involved in the 1951 City College scandal, the 78’ BC scandal and the 94’ ASU scandal. Might as well start clean. Just sayin’ And, can the winnings be construed as NIL payments.? D3 guys would appreciate it.Think long term about the bill though. What's the big deal in getting this passed?
