MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

I thought they were already doing that. Schools were allowed to buy pay insurance premiums for players for a long time, as far as I know there was no restriction on boosters giving money to schools who could use it for massive insurance policies.
The insurance policies are to protect the boosters in case they lose money on their investment. Not the same as insurance on the players.

Wow this actually seems like a pretty good design. Allows the schools to continue to be in charge of athletics but also allows the PE group to earn their return.

Yeah, mostly schools in the Midwest and East Coast are gonna agree to let California control their business model for the next 21 yrs

Reminds me of when Chicago sold off the rights to all of their parking meters for a one time payment

How bad does the B1G and its TV partners need Miami and Notre Dame to beef up inventory?

Saturday afternoon's matchup on CBS features second-ranked Ohio State at ... Bishop Sycamore Wisconsin.

Surefire blowout before halftime and everyone but the Buckeye cult will be watching something else once it turns ugly

Amazing how many crap match-ups CBS, NBC and even FOX have had this season.

Good thing is that it's a problem with a clear-cut solution

That's why you think they'd make sure the big $$$ will still be there at TV renewal time for the B1G before they enter into any private equity deal for $2B.

Down seasons will happen in conferences like what is going on in the B1G this year. It may happen in the SEC down the road as well. We've seen them be very top heavy with no good mid tier teams in the past.

Too many leaches on the conference TV agreement teat to water down the schedule being broadcast. Will there be enough pushback from the TV side to get rid of the leaches? We'll see in about 3 years or so I guess.

I hope Mario get his **** together and wins the ACC before we allegedly go into the Big Ten in 2030 because if we’re still scrapping around the backyard with the likes of Georgia Tech and Louisville, we’re gonna get dog walk in a Big Ten every week

i dont want to leave the ACC. i cant fathom going 5-7 every year
Oh, give me a ******* break, dude. The big ten is *** outside of four teams.

Never mind the fact that you cannot have a school start off each year $40-$60 million behind schools in the Big Ten and expect to keep even getting the roster you’re getting right now over the long-term which will be the case in the gap between the Big Ten and the ACC, even with revenue sharing as you get closer to 2030

Based on the *** teams that we play in the ACC, what would Mario’s record be against those same *** teams in the Big Ten?

um. we struggle w teams with far less talent than we have. there is more talent and better coaching overall in the b10.

Almost like getting into the B1G would be a good idea... I remember when we would be in the B1G and SEC by now... maybe less chess, more movement for Miami... Rad/Joe/Zo and Mario got this!!!
