clemson just willingly signed up to play notre dame for like 20 years.

Your bullsh*tting as we can get a schedule fairly easy.

I would rather be independent than sec....thats my stance.
Miami won't have an NBC contract to support....

Wow one ACC school. If Miami pulls out of the ACC, the ACC will all but guaranteed blackball Miami. This isn't 30 years ago and with the way Miami is recruiting and spending money, other schools will love to see us struggle putting together a 12-game schedule. That's my stance.

From the subject line, is going independent an option when the school wants out of the ACC? I know it’s been 30 years but Miami won 3 national championships as an independent before joining the Big East… I would think with sustained success similar to 2024 the brand will continue to be strong and warrant interest from some streaming platforms. Netflix, prime? Could field easy opponents in FIU/FAU/FAMU/Bethune/USF/UCF while re kindling some old foes in Penn St/OU/WV etc & trying to keep some annuals with UF/FSU/VT/Pitt
Not in this day and age. Need to be in a conference, need that conference money to compete.

Right .... the NETWORKS are getting behind the P2 for matchups and leaving everybody else scrambling to see HOW they can get visibility and $$. It isn't 1980 ... the landscape has changed .... P2 or die.

SEC + BIG

Big XII + back-filled ACC

or

Super-sized Big XII

P2 and second-class status, imo. We should expect every program in "Tier 2" conferences to fully-fund NIL with similar spending on football and men's basketball as the SEC and B1G schools.

The rest of FBS (i.e. G5 conferences) will trudge along for a few years, scrapping for one auto-bid while trying to maintain their marginally-funded programs with "buy" games at SEC/B1G/Big XII opponents and crumbs from fractional CFP shares. IOW, an updated version of what the vast majority of those programs have been doing forever

Even if by some miracle, Miami found someone to pay them broadcast rights money for football and somehow managed to schedule 12 games a year, what would we do for non revenue sports? No major conference is interested in Miami without football.

I want to believe Yormark the Destroyer puts together a league that rivals SEC and B1G in paydays....

Someone help me believe....

There is no advantage to being ind. vs ACC.

LEAVING is an option only after the buyout is reasonably low.

Once the SEC/B1G/Big XII begin the process within the next 14 months of stripping the ACC for parts, Yormark's conference will be firmly established as the unquestioned junior partner to the P2.

How much Yormark media money can squeeze out the arrangement is TBD, but for sure there will still be a not insignificant gap

Keep this on the down low, but rumor has it Yormark has talked the Chicago Bears and KC Chiefs to leave the NFL and become the newest members of the Big XII.

The dude is playing Star Trek chess compared to these pikers at the SEC & B1G.

We won FOUR national championships as an Independent.

I don't give a rat's *** if we ironed on the "Big East" patch in 1991, we played exactly TWO Big East games that year. West Virginia and Boston College.

Sorry, but that doesn't constitute "winning the Big East" or "representing the Big East". We were an Independent that year, on a practical level.

Having said that, there's no way in **** we go Independent again.

Please post the facts of where the B1G or any of its member schools have said anything of the sort regarding the University of Miami. I'll wait.

I'm sorry that you are in the dark on this one. Conversations have been ongoing for a while.

Don't be mad at me that nobody cares about you or trusts you enough to share information.

Doesn't make the information untrue or non-factual. Just makes it unknown to you.
