MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

A lot of propaganda out for the Big 12 saying the B1G doesn’t want Miami. I think they are FOS myself.

The B12 guys keep putting out this slop in hopes of (1) generating clicks and (2) creating the perception that the B12 is a realistic landing spot for us. They feel that we’re the best shot they have of landing a premier brand, and they’ll keep trying to make it seem that way until it isn’t.

The FSU guy he goes on with adds fuel to the fire as well. If we don't get into Power 2, I see us just staying in ACC and dominating with the majority share of income. I get it will still be lower and I prefer we go to BIG. I just opine we choose that scenario over Big 12.

Killing Miami is much more valuable to a majority of schools than whatever marginal increase in revenue Miami could bring to either conference. I don’t want to hear above TV execs controlling that decision. We’re not getting an invite to those conferences any time soon. We need to prove that an ACC team can regularly compete among the top tier or we will die on the vine imo. In the meantime, beat ND.

The tough part for us as fans is you have zero
idea what to believe because Miami generates clicks/reads. Aside from Miami no one give a **** about anyone in the ACC outside of Clemson, FSU and UNC, to a degree. Talk about Miami, especially in a negative “no one wants them” light and the morons eat it up. It’s impossible to get a true read.

Like just about everything in life, if adding Miami will bring more $$$ to the party, they will get it done. If Miami doesn't bring more $$$ to everyone, ACC or Big XII here we come. Everything else is just noise.

So if Miami generates clicks, doesn't it stand to reason that they will bring more $$$?

... in no small part due to misdirection by the Powers That Be to ensure, legally speaking, hands are clean when the ACC collapse is triggered (within the next 10 months imo).

A pair of Greg Sankey quotes to chew on:

2022: "We don’t feel pressured to just operate at a number. But we’ll watch what happens around us and be thoughtful but be nimble.”

2024: "Our presidents have been clear that I am not going to entangle us in litigation around expansion. So I pay attention, but I'm not engaged in those conversations"

B1G (80%): In tandem with Notre Dame and thus landing the last two major football brands available for the P2's "Coast to Coast conference" (zero chance FSU and Clemson don't go to the SEC)

SEC (10%): Sankey — with ESPN's full-fledged $upport — convinces his stakeholders their conference really doesn't want the Big Ten flag planted in the Southeastern U.S. and thus Miami ("institutional fit" be damned) gets a chance for a do-over of its 1990 decision to turn down the SEC 🙏

Big XII (8%): Something goes haywire with the B1G's pursuit of ND and/or unease by that league's administrators toward UM causes Tony Petitti to hit the pause button in pursuit of the Canes

ACC (2%): Instead of accepting the Big XII booby prize, DanRad helps his buddy Jim Phillips “rebuild” UM's conference home for the last two decades 🤮
