Things changed. Three weeks ago according to "most sources" the SE region was the goal for B10 expansion and Miami was on the list of the next 4 to be brought in to the B10 (FSU /Clemson / Miami / UNC). Then the Pac 12 imploded and the B10, with pressure from FOX move up their plans regarding / WA ... instead of grabbing them AFTER the ACC schools they were bumped next into line. Miami will end up in the B10 some day ... not sure if it will be in this decade however the way things are going.

It'll ruin any chance we have of competing with recruits. Very few elite recruits will willingly choose to go play in the Big 12 over SEC or B1G.

Issue is the teams that are B10 / SEC candidates as of TODAY are the top two viewership owning programs not already in the B10/SEC ... FSU and Clemson. So hopefully the SEC grabs at least ONE of them ... or Miami is most likely SOL for a few years .... unless the entire ACC implodes.

Being pretty connected to recruits I wouldn't agree with that. Are some going to want that sure but we will still outrecruit the majority of teams in those conferences if it were to happen.

Seems things are moving more swiftly than originally expected. UDub and UO to the B1G really threw a wrench into a lot of “plans”.

so when I asked how Oregon and Washington impact us with the big 10 everyone said not to worry. now we may be stuck while FSU and Clemson get out? maybe I underestimated the value of their press conference. hopefully we have a plan for this.

Moving forward, It’s not fair to expect or hope for any program not in P2 to compete in a successful level. It will at a major disadvantage across the board. Sure, on the surface, the schedule is easier, but beneath, there is a significant loss in funding and good luck recruiting any kid worth a **** to chose us over any P2 program. Lose games and It’ll be a slow death of the program.

Are we not at all considering that FSUs posturing may be the only option of a program that knows it has none to get out of the league without cutting off its financial legs?

I'm highly doubtful that anyone in this league is going anywhere until it is much much closer to 2036.

Money talks. How can anyone in the league afford to leave [BGCOLOR=initial]without making a very expensive and likely unfavorable deal with a 3rd party. [/BGCOLOR]

[BGCOLOR=initial]The ACC has basically no incentive to facilitate such a move with better exit terms, and the SEC/BIG hold all the leverage for any new expansion and surely aren't adding anyone who they can't profit off of immediately.[/BGCOLOR]

SEC / BIG aren't working alone ... they have MEDIA PARTNERS that are involved in decisions / evaluations and can also negotiate with other media partners. So much potential "back room bargaining" that can be going on that nobody knows. At this point the only certainty is it takes 3/4 votes to ADD new members and I don't see the ACC getting those votes while FSU and Clemson are here as they will likely get support from Miami and ND at least. UNLESS there is an agreement with the ACC / ESPN to add teams and also let teams go with no GOR buyback necessary ... just pay the $120M exit fee and you're good. Then by all means bring in Stanford / Cal / SMU and let Miami / FSU / Clemson go.

That may work if ESPN agrees to keep the remaining ACC teams at the current payout level. Hard to see ESPN agreeing to that and hard for the other teams willing to take less.

Agreed. But not because you cannot make the playoffs. It can happen with the expanded format. But every single other aspect of your program will suffer and you will always lack the funds to compete with the big boys and consistently attract the 5 ⭐️ talent. That’s why you get left behind.

That’s what I don’t understand. The ACC schools wouldn’t begin investigating west coast schools without some level of dialogue with espn that they were open to adding schools snd modifying the existing tv deal

Yep... especially if theres a future where conferences start paying athletes. Not saying it's likely, but it's definitely a possibility and in that world, you better be in the Big 2
