Let’s assume that a school makes the goals necessary to earn the “extra” $10M under the rumored new structure, that would give that school $47M. The SEC pays everyone $60 and the B1G pays $67M. Huge difference. The question is will a school take those losses for 10 or 12 years until the ACC is able to sign a new TV contract…….


$130M to $200M is a big loss….

Oh please. It’s public knowledge the schools aren’t happy with the current deal. FSU and Clemson have been trying to bolt for years. This new redistribution plan doesn’t address the main issue with TV revenue. It might help some programs get a little more at the expense of other ACC programs. That’s still not going to come close to anything the SEC and BIG are making.

The downfall of the ACC is inevitable. If they planned on “becoming a better league”, they’d have either added more teams or renegotiated a better TV deal. The one in place will never cut it.

Part of what makes the SEC great — and there is a lot if we're being honest — is the (often accurate) characterizations of fans and especially alumni from the different schools.

The yin and yang of UVA and VT and UNC and NC State would definitely add to that mix.

If we got invited to the SEC along with FSU, it would add our whole "Big 3" triangle dynamic to the conference.

Frankly, it would be great

Agree on the UNC-NCST and UVA-VT front.

However, I tend to think that while FSU would be welcomed with open arms, we would be treated like the red-headed stepchild.

FSU-UF fit the profile of the UNC-NCST dynamic. We on the other hand would fit much better in the B1G as a school comparable to a Notre Dame due to being a private university rooted in big time football history.

B1G power move would be adding Miami-Notre Dame as a pair.

I'd be incredibly surprised if you can do anything without a super majority.

Probably the more likely scenario in the short to medium term is an ESPN bankruptcy, where the contracts can get rejected.
