Collins Acheampong???

well see how it plays out, but unless this guys injury is really bad think it's weird to process him out while keeping the super senior scrubadubdub DL portal guys from last year

May indicate further strengthening of that position that will come soon.

Otherwise, makes little sense.

Collins, as I understand it, is a long DE prospect who could grow into a DT. Kid had no chance of gaining a spot in the DE rotation (the Marshall kid's probly comin' too), and is probably a couple of years at best away from growing into a DT (where we just brought in a haul). So it wasn't looking good for his foreseeable future is what I'm guessing. And you could even say he was recruited over, in spite of being a 4 star. From his own class Bain and Wayne are farther along. Then add Blount and Lightfoot at DE...
We will be fine but stop it with the over recruited stuff. The idea is that you need to stack talent and this kid was only a true freshman. We aren’t loaded whatsoever at DE. We have some nice prospects and this kid while not a major loss is still a loss. Remember this isn’t a Manny kid, he is a Mario kid.

I believe he only played one year of high school ball. May have had lots of potential upside, but he was still a very high risk take that was going to need years, if he was even going to develop at all. That and the position change. Even without the injury, he would still have been a project for a while to come.

Collins apparently had a couple of surgeries last year. Even putting that aside, who's more physically ready to see the field in '24: Collins or Blount?

Another Wario misfire..so many on this site beat their chest and go on and on about how great of a recruiter he is…well, start backing out all those that leave in one or two years..and throw in his incredible game day coaching..

Lets go back to the days when we barely had top 20 classes, With more misses then hits and the worst linebacker and cornerback recruiting in the P5.

Every school has recruiting misses. Its law of averages and the transfer portal has emphasized this even more.

Eh
**** near every program in America has had a kid depart from their 2023 class already. That’s just the norm now.

Collins has a lot of the physical tools, but if he still wants to be a DE, there isn't a home for him here. He is a DT, that's his future. The issue is that there are two legit talents coming in, PLUS the guys that are returning that have been solid. Where does he fit in? If he was willing to sit, get spot snaps for the year and be ready to compete in 25, that's one thing, but if he wants to see PT now, that's unlikely.
