College GameDay Reveals Celebrity Guest Picker for Miami-Florida

1. An unknown hockey player is crazy dumb

2. If half this board spent a second watching the Panthers, their opinions would be different. Dudes a champ obviously, but he’s played through some gruesome injuries to win those cups and he talks some serious ****. Literally gets in the opponents heads just smiling at them. He is someone this fanbase would consider a Hurricane on ice.

And then the team suffocates opponents. They make the best players in the world look pedestrian. Prototypical Cane performances. They beat the **** out of you and have no panic even when their backs are against the wall. Would be a great guy to talk to the team to be honest

3. He LOVES it in Miami. So many guys have taken pay cuts to stick together on the team rather than getting paid significantly more testing the market. Their culture matters and has been reiterated by multiple people as a sticking point. Championship DNA
He'll turn all the naysayers in this thread around if he talks serious **** about the turds

Neither do the Hurricanes.

no it's not. LOL It's not a showcase for any school. Yes, there are feature pieces on the team and/or individual players and usually the coach makes an appearance but it's a football show, not a Miami show. There will be plenty of features on other schools and/or players, too
You’re right, the 3 hours of shots of campus looking like a resort is a commercial for football.

Wow. What are you basing any of this on? Your first 2 sentences are simply untrue. The university is in South Florida whether you like it or not. I specifically remember them talking about Desmond living down here & mentioning local spots in Miami.

Granted I haven't really watched in years but when I did, they didn't exclusively talk about the Hosting University. Plenty of stories about fans & other things related to them in their area.

Also GameDay in 2017 went as well as it could go. What did it amount to in the end? If you can show me any proof of those "metrics" you mentioned being reality then I'll concede. ****, I really don't care. He's not a Cane & I get that. I'm fine with it.
You’re right. Turns out they’ll be doing a live spot from the combination Pizza Hut/Taco Bell on Oakland park blvd just east of 95.

“These days, major televised football games and events…which are highly publicized, provide universities with national visibility. This makes them more attractive in the eyes of the students. Schools that have successful football programs…put the sport on a pedestal – advertising it as one of the best things about their school.”

“research has revealed that college applications increase by an average of 18.7% after a school wins….This surge is a result of increased media exposure“

More applications means lower acceptance rate, which means the university is more prestigious and desirable.

Universities with strong football teams often see an increase in college applications. For instance, one research has revealed that college applications increase by an average of 18.7% after a school wins a major bowl game. This surge is a result of increased media exposure, as well as a boost in the school pride that naturally comes from a major victory.

That's what the article actually stated. Did you read it? None of that **** was specifically about College GameDay, though I'm sure it could be a small part of the phenomena the article was actually about. Which is in the title of the article.

Anyway, if we do our job & handle our business on field, better exposure & monetary rewards will follow. College GameDay is a small reward of success, not the reason for it.

Televised events isn’t gameday?

Horrible choice, but it’s a corporate pick I guess. Guy is a foreign ******* Hockey player, yes Hockey. What the F does that have to do with 305 ?

Some of you all will complain about anything. Guest picker isn't to satisfy Canes fans; it's to draw eyeballs. A lot of these guest pickers don't have a connection to the school. Guy is a back-to-back Cup champ in the area. It's fine.

And honestly, who cares? Win the game.
In theory you are correct. But he won’t draw more eyeballs. There’s maybe 3 NHL players who the average sports fan could be pick out of a crowd. He’s also more known to the average person for fighting against Canada over the all star break, (bc it went so viral on Twitter) than he is being a back to back champ.

Odd pick but anyway, if you haven't been watching Panthers hockey over the past half decade or so, you've been missing out.

I'd take Paul "Pound their D" Maurice over Tkachuk though.

I would have preferred one of these abuelos, at least they have probably seen or been at the OB and represent a slice of Miami…

So they pick a hockey player but want to draw eyeballs? I mean ok lol

Quick question for those that Champion this selection…

When has a College Gameday Celebrity Guest Picker NOT been CONNECTED OR A MAJOR FAN TO THE HOST SCHOOL?

So they pick a hockey player but want to draw eyeballs? I mean ok lol
Anyone ever consider they’re trying to draw eyeballs elsewhere? Like ESPN-broadcast NHL games? Show dude’s personality before the season begins and try to win over some new viewers. I don’t know if it works but they definitely have a goal behind their choices…

…or they had no one else. I don’t know. I also don’t care. Just win.
