List is completely bogus.
They have Chip Kelly at 4 & he hasn't coached college in 6 years.
Brian Kelly is too high at 13, Paul Chryst should be much higher, Coach Boomahuer Malzahn isn't top 10 imo more like top 15, Mike Leach doesn't deserve to be on the list & Bobby Petrino is the most overrated Corch in College football.
My top 10:
1. Nick Saban
2. Urby "I gotta pain in my schess" Meyer
3. Gary Patterson
4. Dabo Swinney
5. James Franklin
6. Paul Chryst
7. Mark Richt
8. David Shaw
9. Chris Peterson
10. Mark Dantonio
Still too early to rank Lincoln Riley even though I think he'll be a good one, same with Scott Frost.
Also wanna show some respect to Rod Broadway, 5 time HSBCU National Champion, finished his career 122-45 & was successful at all 3 schools he coached. Doesn't get the credit he deserves, but is a **** good coach.
disagree, dabo is above Patterson.
In terms of accomplishments yes.
But Patterson has done a lot more with a lot less, he literally built TCU into a viable program having to compete with Texas, TAMU, Okla, Ok St & several dozen other schools that use Texas as their recruiting base.
TCU is a small private school with a 45,000 seat stadium, they only generate $80+million a year in revenue, they're among the bottom earners in the Big XII & they're still one of the best programs in that conference due entirely to Patterson.
Dabo has done a great job elevating Clemson from Tommy Bowden era, but he has way more resources to support him & has very little recruiting competition other than UGA & Bama.
Patterson is 160-57 for his career all at one program, that's highly impressive to me because he built TCU by himself. And, in terms of X's & O's I think he could out coach most of the top coaches in the nation if he had better talent at a bigger program.
Sorry EL, but Patterson didn't build TCU all on his own. It actually started while he was DC for Franchione. Franchione took a 1 win TCU to 7-5, 8-4 and 10-2 before leaving.
Patterson was my goto guy before landing Richt. He isn't on Dabo level at this point in time. Dabo has played in 2 straight title games along with 7 straight double digit win seasons. Patterson has had the luxury of having Texas down and still not able to capitalize on the talent or step foot in CFP.
I would also say Richt would be 5 on my list ahead of Franklin and Chryst. People will complain about the man, but what Richt did this season with Rosier as QB was insane.
Franchione had one good season at TCU, the last 18 years has been all Patterson, the best seasons they've had in the modern era all came from him.
Dabo has had way more of a luxury at Clemson than TCU has in comparison & it's not even close. Dabo has a ton more to work with, he has zero in state comp & gets the pick of the litter in the Carolinas. Combine that with a much larger fanbase, revenue stream & an unlimited war chest, it makes sense Clemson is a powerhouse now. TCU has no business being half as good as they are, but trust take GP away & give'em a new HC they wouldn't win 6 games a year.
Patterson would do the same thing at place like Clemson or another major program with better resources. He put together a great 3 year run in the BCS era from 09-11 & went undefeated with bum *** Andy Dalton in 2010. TCU was arguably the best team in the Nation that year.
I love Richt, but not in the top 5 until we win the ACC (which I think we will this year). I put Chryst ahead of him because he's done a terrific job at Wisconsin, won 10+ games 3 seasons in a row, won all their bowl games, put together a 13-1 season & he just took Richt behind the tool shed whipped him at Hard Rock. I put Franklin there because he won the B1G his 3rd year in, he also found a way to win at Vanderbilt which gets degree of difficulty points.
