Coaching Carousel- Merged Coaching Musical Chairs Thread

LOL ... one of the great sports stories of all time. Not in a necessarily inspiring way, more like, in a get out of bed every day and something good might happen kind of way.

Sark never failed as a HC. He built up Washington and was winning at SC. I'd love for him to be at Miami. Dude was/is an alcoholic but has won where hes coached
Is he off the gas? Hope the dude looked in the mirror and made a big boy decision to get off the sauce.

It's weird to me that the coaching boards for these SEC teams that fire their coach are all the same. They all want Freeze, Venables, Tony Elliott, Napier, Sark, Kiffin, etc etc.

5 years ago they all wanted Smart, Muschamp, Kiffin, etc

Surprised no one has thrown a blank check at Pat Fitzgerald (I know he's not been willing to leave before but you'd think Auburn could change his mind) or Brian Harsin or even put their focus on someone in the NFL. Isn't it proven that Saban's former assistants are going to beat him and if they do it is going to be a one-off? He teaches them enough to go out on their own and run a good program but he's keeping the secret formula to himself - along with all of the bags that can't be beat.
Fans overestimate the Auburn job. It would be a decent job if they knew who they are—little brother. They don’t so it’s actually a ****** gig. Pat Fitzgerald would never go there no matter what they offered him.

He was 9-4 and started 3-2 the following season at SC. The most he ever won at Washington was 8 games. The most he’s ever won in a season is 9 games.

Imma need to see him, again, coaching before welcoming him as a HC.

Auburn coaching search being hamstrung by two of their major boosters : Jimmy Rane, founder and CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving, and Raymond Harbert, CFO of global private investment firm Harbert Management Corp. Harbert donated $40 million to Auburn, for which they renamed their business school after him.

Seems these two are pulling the strings behind the scenes, managing which assistants are retained, etc. They are part of the group that planned to insert Kevin Steele into the HC job without a real search. Harbert was involved with the Malzahn extension which just cost them $21 million.

Is it any wonder no one wants this job?????

Auburn has 2 high level recruiters on that staff in Kodi Burns & Wesley McGriff who I would take here in a heartbeat.

Kodi Burns is a WR’s coach, so obviously we wouldn’t go get him with Likens already on staff, but he’s another young Arkansas recruiter that Malzahn has brought up from the ranks, he worked with Lashlee at Ark St & early on during his AU stint as well, he can recruit his *** off.

McGriff would be a Home-run hire bringing him back to Miami, I doubt Diaz would even interview him, but he & T-Rob would lock down South FL DB recruiting something scary like we haven’t seen in decades.

This is just so so so **** disappointing. Are these guys too alpha for Manny or something?

Dabo still might have a say in that.

But Clemson did put a Bama Clause in his new contract.

Clemson Coach's $93 Million Deal Includes an Extra Alabama Penalty

If Saban were to retire tomorrow and Dabo wanted to go there, do they really think $6m is going to get in the way of Bama closing that deal? They view this as business, and for them, football is their school’s number one asset and export. They will make that on extra freshman applications in a year.

Why did McGriff leave here?

Auburn has screwed this coaching search all up, don't they know for a bid decision like this you are only supposed to take 6 hours on New Year's Eve and then go get drunk and celebrate the great coup of signing a new head coach with no head coaching experience??? Smh, some teams just don't get it!

FIFY

This is the difference between Alabama and Miami, or really most any school. Their school's president goes on 60 Minutes and says the best investment the school has ever made was Nick Saban. Ours would be Shalala overpaying for Cedars by 50% and nearly crippling both the medical school and Jackson System for some ****amamie structure that makes no sense to this day.
