Coach Prime

Shemar already mentioned J$U so they are absolutely in the picture and barstool is financially back all this so I wouldn’t be surprised at all

I don't think the financial will be the issue. He already has an offer (and offered bag) from the undisputed king of paying players this year, Texas A&M. Coleman did not have that.

I thought he was at the NFLN but wasn't sure.

What's funny I was just @k9cane this same thing , it'll be few and far between. After he leaves it'll be over. But we have posters saying DS is kicking Mc's ***

when I see bout 30 or so kids go to other long-time well-known HBCU's like Grambling, Southern etc... then we can say this is a real movement. But if they are all going to one program with a certain coach, well, Im inclined to believe it's about that coach(in this case, Deion Sanders)

My hats off to him, he's creating a system that works for him. And I want to know what the likes of Coleman think of their experience and if they actually stick this thing throughout should Sanders leave..

Nah. Nothing odd to that. ESPN told him he could either accept a pay cut to half his salary or he would be released. Barstool saved his ***. But some people really putting way too much thought into this. Hbcu aren't going to be taking nothing except once in a blue and most of that is simply while schools are figuring out the details with Nils. It's just funny as **** to me how people think Dion is some amazing coach. Dude is clueless and is simply a gimmick. I'm glad for his teams success this last year but you don't have to be some world beater to win when you are playing the girls YMCA on a regular.

This is another variable, the programs/coaches who are intelligent and flexible, will adjust to this.

As for Deion, when he brought in Ms Renner to talk to his team... yeah, that was interesting

i live in Biloxi (on the gulfcoast) Jackson is by far the worst city in Mississippi with the highest crime rate and its not even close. Its like the 9th ward in New Orleans, a ****hole.

Once those black players get a taste of that good HBCU life, it's all over for the P5. That experience is like nothing else..

And?

You can say the same thing about most PWI's. FSU's in a "****hole" part of town also, a guy by the name of Ted Bundy ran through their once.

BTW, Sanders' hiring has nearly doubled the economic impact of The City Of Jackson & Jackson St., Jackson St. broke FCS records for average home attendance, team gear is flying off the shelves, more jobs, they have a new stadium in the works, and they're probably getting more applications because of the exposure.

I'll go out on a limb and say JSU will probably move up to G5 in the next few years.

Good points ...

When people in Biloxi tell you this, you listen. Like people from Newark ragging on Trenton.

Yeah but is there a P5 that would hire him, say after next season?

If He has a better season than last season their will be. Like I said, Sanders has nearly doubled the economic impact in Jackson, Mississippi since His hiring. The team that plays in Broke Shambles can use Him right now, with their beggin' the city for $20M a$$es.

I think the HBCU thing is great, but it is going to come to a crashing halt when Prime takes a better job at a Power 5 team. The second he leaves for a non-HBCU it was all for not.

I definitely think this is more about Deion than about HBCU's overall. No one is talking about Tennessee State on a national level.

I hate that we lost Coleman, but I'd rather lose him than Moss. With that said, the HBCU thing is interesting. What people fail to realize is that IF it does gain more traction (fwiw I don't think it does), it's probably going to affect the big southern state schools the most. A good amount of Black kids in SEC strongholds have parents and/or family members that are HBCU graduates. I think they'd love for their kids to have that experience. Again, I don't think it will happen.

Lastly, I wouldn't mind if hbcu's became more relevant. I've enjoyed quite a few games over the years. The various "classics" are always ridiculous.

People assuming Prime wants a P5 job.

I’m not so sure.

Let me preface this by saying that he has the right to change his mind.

But from the beginning of this he said it was all about helping HBCUs and creating opportunities for those student atheletes.

That has been the mission.

Deion is an NFL HOFer, wealthy, celebrity, icon, multi-time Super Bowl Champ.

He literally has nothing to prove.

His current job is getting easier each signing day.

And the only expectations are the ones he set for himself.

There is no one to answer to and no meddling boosters.

It’s about as low maintenance as being a Head ball coach could ever be.

The only way I believe he takes a P5 job is if one day he decides he’s too bored to retire.

But rest assured that Deion’s phone was ringing with coaching offers well before he took the JSU job. So if it was about being a P5 head coach he could have done that any time.

Let’s not forget this is the same guy that when the opposing sidelines yelled to him “don’t be scared to hit somebody” he replied “don’t be scared to make some money.”

Now it’s clearly not all about the money for Deion anymore but it shows you that he is not the type of person to confirm to societal pressures about what challenges he should take on and how he should handle his career choices. And that he’ll do what he feels is in the best interest of his overall mission.

He may take a P5 job, but so far he's been consistent regarding getting hbcu's more pub, funding, etc. Even when opposing hbcu coaches took swipes at him, he immediately said that they all needed to be working together.
