Coach Kul

depends on who we have to replace him. Patrick would be ideal, a great coach and a great recruiter. Our Dline recruiting would pick up tremendously.

So you guys see no negative impact on losing the best d line coach in America?

Coaching wise it is a blow. This is asking about the recruiting side. The one recruit that came here because of him has already transferred out possibly because of him. He was given a lot of money and complete control over who to bring in for the line yet he didn't want to recruit. Was also flirting with other jobs from the start and it seems the players were not to happy about not knowing anything about his intentions. So recruiting and player relation feels like it can pretty much only go up.

I love Kul and think he’s a great coach but he doesn’t want to do the job of a college coach and have to recruit.
Supposedly he interviewed for a bunch of Pro jobs. Bama was probably his fall back job and opportunity to make more money but I bet he won’t be there long either and will continue to interview for Pro jobs till he gets one.

Hopefully we can get Patrick who checks all the boxes and would be a great addition to Richt’s staff!

There are certain schools that can get away with having a few technicians that don't do much recruiting, then there are other where everyone needs to be a recruiter. It should be readily apparent to all of us that Miami is the latter.

The negative effects are offset by his shortcomings as a recruiter. A great Dline coach who can only muster up 3 star caliber players and an occasional 4 star probably has the same effect on the program as a good Dline coach who can get mostly 4 stars with the occasional 5 star.

Regardless of what I think of him as a coach...he's one of the best from a teaching perspective...but he has never shown an acumen or desire for/to recruiting.

Also, there is something to be said about the last two ways he has left his former schools...Mizzou was an ugly divorce post Pinkel with some reckless rumors about his departure. Miami...he never seemed comfortable here considering he's been looking to take other jobs in the past two off-seasons.

I'm curious where Kuligowski would be after Mizzou if Richt didn't come calling.

Ultimately, this dude wants to bounce to the NFL ASAP. He deserves it, but has not exactly the best way to go about it.

Yup. There are very few schools in this landscape that can afford pure coaches. Its why Soldy eventually was put out to pasture. Sure...you have room for SOME in this mold, but times have passed them by. Its either the NFL or HS for them. College has become such an arms race, you need grinders that can recruit...it becomes more important than teaching and coaching at this point.

Alabama can afford a Kuligowski as a favor because they have Tosh Lupoi who can recruit an entire front seven by his **** self. Miami isn't afforded such luxuries.
