Year 4 same ****....

I've been a golden supporter the entire time but at this point its time to start winning or changing things.

If the defense sucks for 4 years and you don't change it then you aren't a great coach. I'm hoping he shows something different this year.

I agree the D did look a little better in the spring game, of course they were playing against an offense lead by a QB who played like Kirby Freeman on a bad day.

golden looks a lot less stressed.
he really loves South Florida and his parents live in Naples, why is everyone so sure he wanted out of here?

I think it is more "we wanted him to want out of here." I am happy for his looking less stressed. My problem is that he is stressing the living crap out of me. He plays friggin touch football on defense(I'm probably giving touch football a bad name) while everyone else is playing tackle. All that said, I will never believe he did not disappear for days hawking the psu job. He is over losing it now but that took some time. I only hope he knows he will not get it when Franklin goes to NFL unless he does better on defense down here. In fact, I hope he realizes he is heading toward being Coker's replacement out west(but without the NC) if he doesn't learn how to coach and fast.

two things, 1.) his confession that he will be more hands on tells me he was probably very preoccupied with the NCAA stuff. Also, he has had a lot of turnover since he got here. 2.) he keeps suggesting that he has a different caliber of athlete now. I think he has to win this year, we have offensive talent that a medicare qb can get by. Also, we know have guys on defense who have developed for 3 & 4 years. we have a loaded secondary, i think we will be fine at LB, once again, if the DL is able to step up, things change big time.

You won't get vote until I see the work done on the field. Talk a good game, can you back it up, Senator Golden.

****ing Golden. Not winning games during media days again.

Correct, he actually didn't lose today.

Back to real life. I think it was losing 4 of the last 6 that has people upset.

People will continue to feel this way until we actually change this behavior.

Yes. The dead horse will continue to be beat. Or we can take a cue from D$ and stop being whiney ******* and come together for the season. There was nothing to be done on the field today, but yet fans want to beat up the coach trying to build optimism around the program.

I know, I know, winning games and playing "Miami" defense will bring optimism.

Even the the best coaching staffs in the country are not winning or losing games on the field in July.

I hope you mofos remember Golden said the defense has been better any day this spring than any day last year. Not believing it until I see actual proof of this

Awwwwwwww, yea, the defense was better last year (2013) than the previous year (2012). 2012 defense was the worst in UM history in many statistical categories.

You know what could have brought optimism? A new DC.

And this is coming from someone who think's we win the Coastal this year.

Said he'll be more hands-on, delegate his time better.

It's really pathetic that he took so long to learn this (if it is true). He has been a HC since 2006.

Oh yeah, hire competent coaches.

Really? Because he didn't have anything else unusual on his plate these last few years, anything else to deal with that is normally out of the scope of a football coach? Nothing comes to mind at all? Geesh you two.

Also as kids mature, as his staff matures, he's able to delegate. That's business. I can't believe how some people think they can extrapolate a leaf into a tree here.

Was not happening. Golden was not firing Coach D without giving him a chance with more talent. If it is Golden's D philosophy, firing D to save face to message board fans shows more weakness than it does strength.

If this product doesn't improve, fire them both. Maybe we can quit *****ing and rooting for Louisville in the meantime.

- Golden onUM v. FSU: "For us at the U of Miami, for us to get back to where we want to be, we’ve got to win that game."

This was the most important quote for me. Usually he would run form this question but he actually said what i wanted. i like this new golden.

Asked Golden how he can be better in Year 4. Said he'll be more hands-on, delegate his time better.

I told everyone in the other thread he was going to be more hands on with the defense and everything from now on. he knows his seat is warm and he doesnt want D'NO to cause him his job.

The importance of that one game is at an all time high this season, because there is a chance we may play FSU twice. He knows that he could be the 1st Cane HC to lose 2 times in a season and also put us in a 6 game skid to our biggest foe. 5 of those would be on him. Which would be the 2nd longest skid to them since the 63 to 72 stretch of 7 games and the longest skid of the modern era. Also since he has been HC here. The beatings from FSU have gotten worse every year. Going from 4 to 13 to 27 points.

Contrary to many peoples beliefs on here. The heat has been on him since the end of last season. People need to save the 2020 bs and this his his real 1st year drama. Had PSU offered him he would have been out of here faster than ****. Dude knows he needs to produce and he needs to do it fast. He didn't bring in Heaps just because. He brought him in because he knows nobody is going to buy the QB went down BS. He has very little faith in Olsen and i seriously doubt he is going to put this season in the hands of a true frosh.

I also doubt Heaps would have left without some sort of assurance that he would get a real shot. Regardless of what Williams says about being ready at the start of the season. Golden doesn't seem to be a believer just from his responses. Golden could sell eskimo ice if he wanted to, but he doesn't look like he his trying hard to sell what Williams is selling.

As far as him getting more hands on. That is a huge sign that he knows the people above ain't ****ing around. Dude is trying to micro manage **** because imo. The ship done sailed on the scapegoating Ono. Only a blind *** admin would not say to Golden. 3 years are in the book and your defense has gotten worse. I feel you need to look for a new man. Golden took the heat on himself and said the defense was his.

He has to make this **** happen. I am not saying that he needs to win a title our even a conference title this year, but he **** sure needs to beat FSU and at least play in the ACCCG. If he doesn't do either. I can't see any logical reason to keep him.

Maybe he gets it right this year. I think everyone would be happy winning games that we should, beating FSU at least once. And appearance in the ACCCG and a bowl victory.

So what you're expecting is for Miami to beat Fl State which has the best QB in the country by far and and a loaded up team? Whether you numbnuts care about what just happened with the NCAA or not it was real. Of course all of us want to win but stop with the moron talk, this team has been weak since way before he got here, the NCAA crap had a lot to do with it for the past 4 years. We couldn't get one decent QB to come here for the first few years because on potential sanctions, or many great players for that matter and your expecting him to beat a loaded FSU team? GTFOOH Dope.

Is it possible? Sure and **** is, but expecting it is stupid. Some of the great SF kids are just starting to come back to the U, looks like we have at least 2 great QB's lined up for the future, it's looking brighter.

Marcus Mariota is the best QB in the Country, without a doubt. But yeah the poster got pretty stupid by saying if he can't beat FSU this year, he shouldn't be here. IMO if he can't win the Coastal this year, he needs to be as much on the hot seat as Muschamp is this year. And I've supported Golden through all this (Not the defense or his decision to keep Onofrio though), But the NCAA issue is a thing of the past, and it was last year too. Last summer, if I remember correctly, the investigation was basically over and they already had the hearing, and were just waiting the outcome, which they didn't expect to be too bad.

Exactly. While some of the brilliant minds on here think anyone who supports Golden is a "slurper", the reality is many of us are not overlooking the situation he walked into, the lack of talent, the restraints in recruiting, etc. This is the first year when there is even anything close to resembling depth on the team, especially defense. Previous years we had starters that weren't worthy of being backups in some positions. Now, while still thin in some areas, we've got better quality starters, and backups that aren't true freshmen or complete scrubs. Golden doesn't get a free pass, but he certainly gets a chance to show what he can do with an actual team of D1 level athletes on it.

Over the last 2 years, which game was impacted by the cloud? Which game did the cloud run for 4 TDs? I didn't realize the cloud was the reason we allowed 90 points to Duke and VT. I didn't realize the cloud was the reason that we lost 4 of the last 6.

I think our fans are scared to have actual expectations for our coaching staff. I think our fans are simply content with the status quo.

If the same result happens in 2014, does that mean the cloud never existed? If we go 5-3 for the THIRD straight year in the ACC, what does that say? That the cloud was just a nice distraction that had no real impact.

Golden gave his staff 3 years, he gave Coach D 3 years, he gave Franklin 3 years and he gave Kehoe 3 years. What evidence demonstrates that the staff has matured?

Here is the best part. Over the last 3 years, our defense (during ACC play) has given up MORE POINTS then the year prior. As the staff is getting more mature, as the players are growing up, we're regressing on defense. Is this because of the cloud?

2013: 262 Points Allowed or 32.75 PPG

2012: 252 Points Allowed or 31.75 PPG

2011: 163 Points Allowed or 20.38 PPG

Don't be scared to have expectations for you coach. We used to have high expectations at this school. I guess the cloud came.

Here are my final thoughts. If Golden didn't understand that as HC he should have been more involved. If Golden didn't understand that the HC is in charge of EVERYTHING. What does that say about him? What did he think, he hires some assistants and coordinators and that is all that is necessary to be a good HC?

Golden can easily get us back too, all he has to do is actually improve.

1. Improve during the ACC Schedule (6-2, 7-1 or 8-0),

2. Win the Coastal, and

3. Win 10 games during the regular season

For the bonus round, he could beat FSU.

Golden on Petrino: "Bobby's got a great offensive mind." Says "controlling variables" will be hard since they won't know UofL's personnel.

And the excuses already begin....

After UL hangs 40 on us, F-A-G's press conference is gonna go "We really worked out butts off, but have to get better were just not there yet. UL came out in alot of different personnel we werent expecting"

DMoney, what are your thoughts and expectations for this season?

I like the talent and character on the roster. The defense we saw in spring had speed and aggression. There are no more Highsmiths and Rodgers.

I don't like the uncertainty at QB and DT. I also don't like the schedule.

If the QB situation gets settled, and Wyche is who we think he is, this could be a breakthrough season. But those are two big ifs.

We are getting back to having premium, top-end players. Perryman, Duke, Coley and Flowers are as good as anyone in the country. However, depth is still an issue. We were a Top 10 team with Duke last year, and an embarrassment with him on the sideline. We need to get lucky with health.

I'm excited. We're almost a month away. Let's stop being whiny ******* about Golden. He's here and his results will speak for themselves. This is an exciting time. If you weren't excited you wouldn't be on here, so let's focus on the season and stop crying about the same ****.

With or without Duke, we were no where near a legitimate top 10 last year. When you consistently fail to convert 3rd downs, and allow opponents to convert 3rd downs, the losses will mount, as they did last year.

****, even the games we won last season were invariably nail biters. Legit top 10 teams do not have to consistently escape with victories against mediocre competition. Those close games happen, but they should be the exception, not the rule. When it's the latter - as it was with us - then you're just another mediocre team.

We don't have a starting QB, that will be the big problem. One of the QB's step up, we have a chance to win the coastal, otherwise it will be tough. Much of the team is above average now except the D line. Mariota was not the best QB last year, this year Fl State has to replace a few players we shall see.
