Coach Golden quotes from today

Pumped to hear they expect Gray to make it in. Huge news if it happens.

don't read anything into the coach's stated expectations. of course, he's going to say that. What else could he say? Would any coach respond: "I'm not confident Trayone's going to make it in." What kind of message would that send?

Good point.

I can't believe a damned thing he says any longer. He lies so much, he's gotta get someone else to call his dog for him.

Yes. The dead horse will continue to be beat. Or we can take a cue from D$ and stop being whiney ****es and come together for the season. There was nothing to be done on the field today, but yet fans want to beat up the coach trying to build optimism around the program.

I know, I know, winning games and playing "Miami" defense will bring optimism.

Even the the best coaching staffs in the country are not winning or losing games on the field in July.

The Part in BOLD:

The dead horse works both ways "Angry" Ibis. The dead horse here is also the constant fighting and denials from the Pro-Al group. I could understand the fight from the other end if there was no truth to what we post (i.e. actual improvement and the status of the program). But let's face it, we have a legit gripe and the evidence demonstrates this position.

You want to build optimism? Try winning more games. Try doing the following:

1. Improve during the ACC Schedule (6-2, 7-1 or 8-0),

2. Win the Coastal, and

3. Win 10 games during the regular season

For the bonus round, he could beat FSU
.

If he does the above, that will build real optimism because we're actually improving and winning more games. This will actually regain the confidence that many have lost from our HC.

The part that is UNDERLINED:

I don't care about "Miami" defense. I care about playing defense with a pulse. I care about not allowing 90 points to Duke and VT. I care about holding the opponent to less than 22-23 PPG. That isn't even good either. These aren't even high expectations. This isn't even what "Miami" defense is about. BUT BUT BUT it is about giving us a chance to do the 3 things above.

The part that is in italics:

Yes, the most irrelevant part of the post. You're right, the best coaching staffs aren't winning or losing games in the off-season. I guess they're busy looking for jobs at other schools and programs. Let's not go there, it was a joke.

I don't care about this irrelevant part. I care about the relevant part, which is ACTUAL improvement (as mentioned above). Show me this and I will show you someone who is improving and could potentially join the best staffs in the country.

- Golden onUM v. FSU: "For us at the U of Miami, for us to get back to where we want to be, we’ve got to win that game."

This was the most important quote for me. Usually he would run form this question but he actually said what i wanted. i like this new golden.

Asked Golden how he can be better in Year 4. Said he'll be more hands-on, delegate his time better.

I told everyone in the other thread he was going to be more hands on with the defense and everything from now on. he knows his seat is warm and he doesnt want D'NO to cause him his job.

what makes you think this is a good thing?

Now that we have established we need to improve on defense, offense and special teams because the past is not good enough. How much more of the same thing discussed should be expected? Since this is the first time we hear of the needed improvement, is it ok to continue to support the team or nah?

Nice use of sarcasm. I heard about this.

It's a good thing because he needs to be ****ed off for greatness. Stop delegating and fix this ****

I am still pumped for the season but I am wanting to see something different. I like our talent on defense better than last year.

The importance of that one game is at an all time high this season, because there is a chance we may play FSU twice. He knows that he could be the 1st Cane HC to lose 2 times in a season and also put us in a 6 game skid to our biggest foe. 5 of those would be on him. Which would be the 2nd longest skid to them since the 63 to 72 stretch of 7 games and the longest skid of the modern era. Also since he has been HC here. The beatings from FSU have gotten worse every year. Going from 4 to 13 to 27 points.

Contrary to many peoples beliefs on here. The heat has been on him since the end of last season. People need to save the 2020 bs and this his his real 1st year drama. Had PSU offered him he would have been out of here faster than ****. Dude knows he needs to produce and he needs to do it fast. He didn't bring in Heaps just because. He brought him in because he knows nobody is going to buy the QB went down BS. He has very little faith in Olsen and i seriously doubt he is going to put this season in the hands of a true frosh.

I also doubt Heaps would have left without some sort of assurance that he would get a real shot. Regardless of what Williams says about being ready at the start of the season. Golden doesn't seem to be a believer just from his responses. Golden could sell eskimo ice if he wanted to, but he doesn't look like he his trying hard to sell what Williams is selling.

As far as him getting more hands on. That is a huge sign that he knows the people above ain't ******* around. Dude is trying to micro manage **** because imo. The ship done sailed on the scapegoating Ono. Only a blind *** admin would not say to Golden. 3 years are in the book and your defense has gotten worse. I feel you need to look for a new man. Golden took the heat on himself and said the defense was his.

He has to make this **** happen. I am not saying that he needs to win a title our even a conference title this year, but he **** sure needs to beat FSU and at least play in the ACCCG. If he doesn't do either. I can't see any logical reason to keep him.

Maybe he gets it right this year. I think everyone would be happy winning games that we should, beating FSU at least once. And appearance in the ACCCG and a bowl victory.

I agree for the most part. I'm sick of hearing the same BS about F.A.G. being untouchable. GTFOH. he had a chance to buy some more time based on hope and change IF he had scrapped the defense this year and turned it over to someone outside his coaching tree. he didnt do that. thats why I believe this is it for him. show real improvement or GTFO this year.

I have very little faith that we will improve significantly on defense with this scheme and LMAO at the thought of beating FSU. thats why i think F.A.G. will be gone after this year

Lulz at anyone that buys into anything that golden is selling right now. He said nothing different than what he's said for the last 3+ years. Can't wait for the season to start just so we have finality on the discussions about golden. Either he will make a fool out of people like myself or he will prove us correct.

Cant Wait gif.

thing is he has already proven who he is. thats the frustrating part. he basically has to become an entirely different coach in one offseason. thats not going to happen

Man, i cant wait to bump threads at the end of the season....gonna be ALOT of mad porsters

I am pretty sure most Cane fans would be mad with loses, especially if there is no improvement.

How upset will you be when we win tho?

Yup. It's like taking a Clydesdale and in the off season converting to a quarter-horse.

Ain't gonna happen.

That's one indicator that he'll never have consistent success at Miami. He is unwilling and incapable of adjusting to the moment, situation, personnel mix, or game play. If you can't adjust when all indicators point to a critical need, you're sunk.
