Now that we have received commitments from two of the biggest stars in So. Florida, what do people think of Golden and Co. Now??? Before fans bashed him for not getting guys and goin OOS for fill in recruits....We listen to all the negativity and now I think we need to give the staff credit for what they're doing and hopefully more will come...

Definitely should get credit.

Now lets continue to build off this momentum and improve the 2015 class. Lots of work to be done.

I big 2014 season would be a big help, after all recruiting Ws are great but on the field is what really matters.

That said, best Canes day in a long long time.

Have you forgotten about the 2014 cycle?

Pulling in Scarlett and Bruce is huge but it's July.

If he can pull in Coney, Ridley, Burgess-Becker, Durante, Phillips, Peete, Cole, the Davis', Irvin, Johnson etc., etc...then I'll cut him some slack.

It's way too early for call out threads for those of us that don't believe in Golden.

coley was one of the main reasons for last years class to stay together and now he is the main reason for us having a monster 2016 class, this what most here thought would happen with his hire

Hiring quality assistants who can coach/recruit is one of the most important jobs a HC has.

I think Golden has recruited reasonably well considering his handicaps. We didn't spend for a big name coach so we didn't have that to sell, and we've had a decade of irrelevance and an NCAA investigation that lasted historically long to deal with. There were some misses and miscommunications along the way but overall its impossible to deny an improvement in the organization and effectiveness since this staff has gotten here, as far as recruiting goes. We've got exciting young talent at pretty much every position that even a lot of top 25 teams would have good reason to be envious of.

We gotta get 10 wins this year. Break in a new quarterback, put some new ballers in the league, and get ready for the future free of the cloud. The X's and O's make me nervous as ****.

Is it that difficult to see that recruiting is done as a staff? I just don't know how you can sit around and give Coley all this credit, or Ice, or Baez, yet not Golden? I actually think the new guy may even have more to do with it than any one guy. AG can recruit his *** off, the guy is a salesman. He knows how to relate to kids, he knows what moms and dads want to hear and he knows what the kids want. He has done a great job connecting with the sofla coaches and for the most part the kids too. I am and have been pulling for AG to succeed because I like him, I like the kind of program he runs, but the people that are scared off by some of the game day coaching, and even some of the missteps in recruiting have a fair argument as well. He lost the team last yr, it was obvious in the bowl game. If he loses the team this year we will lose more recruits (a crap load more than likely), and he will lose his job.

This staff has proven for three yrs in a row they can generate a great positive buzz in the summer. I think the reason the defensive kids are holding off is they want to see this defense work before they commit to playing in it. I think the new negative recruiting tactic is the defense. And its working and thats why defensive kids are in wait and see mode, **** most of the fans are too. Some just choose to be positive, and some just have a hard time looking past the failures to be positive. But in the end we all want to see great recruits come and we ideally want to see the HC have success. Heck, I want to see all the coaches have success.

i'm not gonna take away from a historic day for UM and Al Golden and co, we've proved we can recruit SF now we need to get in done on the field.

Got to disagree some here. At the moment they are getting more O studs than before. We have gotten a stud or two each year. Heck, now they are getting almost all of them and in two classes at once. Everyone cried that we didn't get Joe, Sony AND Cook last year. Well, 2015 has all three plus huge stud from 2016 who might on might not join 2015. This year is much better on offense, and we have better shot at the TE(at BTW now) we want. Last year loaded the defense more than we have seen before(yeah I know slave trader stole our jewel). I have plenty of issues with Al about coaching but his recruiting has not been bad at all. Now it is starting to look scary good. 2016 has the look of one for the ages. Mo is on our side right now.

CIS Recruiting 101 lesson for today:

"It's July" is OK to downplay commits we get, but not to downplay commits we don't get.

Any commitment of a recruit to another school is a failure by the staff, and only this staff.

Any recruit committed to Miami that doesn't play DT should be greeted, not with excitement, but with "Can he play DT?"

One word sticks out when I think about this recruiting staff the last few years:

resilient

Things have been up and down, but the staff has shown amazing ability to just keep grinding and usually things end up working out in the long run. Flaws? Sure. But just when you think they are down, they bounce back.

2012=They get Duke, Jean-Louis (Never got in, but the commitment still counts), Lewis, Isadora, and Flowers. They miss on Cooper, Avery Young, Ferguson, and Pender. By and large they got the major studs and still got the best offensive player in South Florida.

2013=They get Coley and miss on Collins, Whitfield, and Kirkland. For such a small class, they got the best offensive player again, the gem that they needed to get.

2014=They Yearby, McDermott, Darling, Langham, and Gray. They miss on Cook, Sony, Lane, Dixon, Rudolph, and Harris. This is the class where they missed on a lot of studs, but had room to give because there were so many studs to get. In all honesty, they needed to get either Cook or Sony to go with Yearby.

We've been getting more than our share of the offensive giants for me to be generally satisfied without getting greedy. Defensively, we've missed big every year save for Chickilo, Howard, Bush, McCord, Muhammad, Burns, Grace, Thomas, Harris, Moten, and a few late bloomers. I want balance where we get at least 4-5 of the South Florida defensive studs to go along with the 5-6 offensive players we've been getting. It hasn't happened so far and I'm cautious for this cycle. But to the major point, recruiting is on an upswing to put it mildly and it's nice for a change.

Thank you for your response.
