I’ve consistently been hearing that Felds ability to train and focus based on position will be a game changer.

Looking at each position these are my picks for biggest benefactors of Felds ways.

QB - Jacurri Brown

The frosh is an easy pick as he’ll benefit just from the high school to college transition. However, The young man’s duality at the position opens his training up to more advancements in the group. I could see his physical growth over the next few months getting him a few packages in short yardage situations this season.

RB - Don Chaney

The biggest takeaway from early returns concerning Coach Feld are his focuses on utilizing proper form and athletic training to prevent injury. Less squats and stagnant training, more ligament and support muscle training.
A healthy Don, IMO, is a game changer for this offense.

WR/TE - While Daz Worsham and Redding can benefit similarly to Don, it’s Romello Brinson for me. Adding more functional physicality will help combat the strong CBs in the ACC and abuse the lesser. A more physical game pushes Brinson closer to a Hankerson level impact.

OL - Chris Washington - while mentality will also be key, Washington needs to get a point that his size and strength are no longer a liability. If Mirabal can bring out the mental, and Feld the physical, Washington can shock a few in the Gables.

DL - Jahfari Harvey - another player a little light in the pants, Harvey may never hold much more weight, but can still benefit from more strength at the point of attack. Harvey can grow his strength while keep his speed and expanding to a 3 down DE.

LB - Sam Brooks - Health, weight, twitch. Brooks was on track before becoming a bit of an injury prone player late in high school. Foot and knee injuries affected how he conditioned and how often he could contribute at a high level or at all. Spikes of production show us that get the health and conditioning back could make for an intriguing bounce back candidate.

CB/S - James Williams - Williams sheer size in the secondary lent to heavy hits. Now it’s about reaching potential. With a frame that lends more to safety or lighter LB, Williams has a chance to be the premier defender in the ACC and an all American candidate if he can reach physical potential with Feld.

Where do you all agree, disagree, or see other opportunities on roster to benefit from the new strength and conditioning team?

I think we might be expecting to much to soon.

Can even an elite S&C really make that big a difference over Feely? Not that he was bad of course.

@AlphaMarshan ???

Not really putting too much of a time frame on it. But good habits and new training affect the body fairly quick, especially in youth. The injury based summaries can produce the quickest results.

Wasn't a big fan of Feeley after reading various things about how he trains people.... I mean when we first got him I was happy but only because he was replacing Felder....

That statement right there means a lot.... Will we see a huge difference right off the bat?? Maybe not physically but mentally we will... The longer Feld is here then the physical will be right there as well..

I know nothing of the technicals of weight lifting outside of personal fitness.

Always appreciate the discourse with the lead-heads who live and breathe it!

Curious...are squats (or over reliance on them) for football players less important overall to performance?

Wouldn't that be mainstay of OL/DL?

It's not that they're not important.. I mean you want guys strong but in the context of how it's being explained is you have to offer more than just "the weight lifting aspect"... Lots of top notch S&C guys are more in line with what Feld is doing.... There's been articles on various sites that covered what Feeley does compared to more renowned guys and in reality Feeley is way behind the times.... Look I'm thankful for what he did in his time here but he needs to grow more as a S&C guy..
We talk about Mario wanting bigger and better so he made a good move in Feld... Is he the best? admittedly no but that's ok... He's still really good and will have us way better prepared physically and mentally...

Canes fans- we get to keep what little
hair we got left cause we don’t get our shot pushed in on short yardage.

Correct... you gotta change the narrative to some extent...
I would love to get down there and see some workouts first hand

I will say I am very optimistic about him

It’s just easier to train better athletes that are truly all in about football and I’m also hoping that Mario handles that part well (recruiting coachable kids I should say)

I can’t go into the deepest of breakdowns but had a really good discussion last year about how squats are more overrated than most exercises. It’s great for general power, core strength and hormone production, it’s not nearly as impactful to more fluid football movements which is inherent to the majority of positions in the game.

That's also a good point... The players themselves just having that drive to begin with... It all starts from within..
