Coach Diaz Has Obviously Forgotten How To Coach...Right?

In his first season at Miami, Diaz was a nominee for the Broyles award, given to the top assistant coach in college football.

Maybe, just maybe, Coach Diaz knows a little bit more about coaching defense than some of the experts who were calling for him to be fired during the first half against Toledo, and continue to attack the man even today.

One thing is for sure...thank God the players don't quit on their teammates and coaches when encountering a bad patch of play like the experts do. Saying you are a UM fan when constantly complaining and criticizing rings a little hollow. If true, then we have a massively loyal fan base at ESPN, other media outlets, FSU, Florida, et al.

Just curious. How long were you on the Golden bandwagon for?

Interesting question...so, you've earned street cred on this blog by puffing your chest out as a Golden hater and now a hater of Richt, Diaz, Kool, and a smorgasbord of UM players. Trust me, hiding behind a computer screen and hurling hate and insults at those associated with the UM football program does not qualify as a manly thing to do. To be sure, this in no way is aimed at those who offer thoughtful criticism concerning the U as those people are always quick to include the positives...unlike you! By the way, I didn't and never will hate Golden as he stood by the program when most coaches would have slithered away under the cover of darkness. And had he jumped ship, as the NCAA hoped he would, then today the football program would mirror what SMU went through, again, precisely what the NCAA wanted. Yet, early on it became clear to me that the football program needed a change at the top that I believed was best for the U and Golden. Finally, the NCAA now has the Canes in their cross-hairs 'AGAIN' concerning the basketball issues and I guarantee you that NCAA President Mark Emmert will do everything in his power to somehow lasso the football program into this mess to carry out his original sworn mission...kill the UM football program. Be well!
LOL. That fat ******* did everything he could to sneak off to Pedo State and heavy rumors that it fell apart because of his blind loyalty to Dorito; one of the main reasons he failed here. I'll never forget that press conference after he disappeared, he looked like he lost a family member and you could tell he didn't want to be here. POS.

That's right. After months of being harangued, vilified, belittled, and hated beyond any comprehension the man attempted to reunite with his alma mater to remove his wife and kids from the cesspool of hate that had become a 'part' of the University of Miami fan base. But, just as you have proven, even though the haters were running around with their hair on fire and bellowing-FIRE AL GOLDEN-people like you attacked him for attempting to do the very thing you so desperately wanted the man to do...leave the UM football program. You just can't make this stuff up!

PS: I reiterate, after a short period of time I knew Golden needed to go. That whole unseemly episode is a snapshot of today's ills in America where destroying someone and their family you don't agree with is considered good sport...up until the very instant that behavior is directed at you and your family.

I'm not so sure his family was attacked in any way.

I can't believe anyone here would support that. I sure wouldn't.

But I wanted him fired as early as 2013. I could see he wasn't a fit then.

I wonder if Coach Kool likes having to work with a DC that wants to drop Chad Thomas into zone coverage and have Joe Jackson defending a slot wr?? Tension is going to stir between those two.

My comment needs some clarity added...when I referenced his wife and kids it was meant to point out that they couldn't escape the onslaught of verbal abuse and he wanted to put them in a different environment...not intending to suggest physical violence was an issue...at least i hope not! And like you, I also realized that not only was a change needed, but it was inevitable and the program could not possibly move forward without said change. That said, not directing this at you...I sure as **** don't believe for one nano-second at this point that Richt, Diaz or Kool's names should be mentioned in the same sentence with the word 'firing', which occurred during the first half of the Toledo game and some continue their attacks even today (not necessarily calling for 'immediate' firings).

You got mighty defensive at that question. Your message board ego is obviously soaring, so stop projecting.

Your argument was the same **** we heard from the late Golden loyalists. Fans on this message board know less about Golden and D'ono, therefore our opinions are nullified.

How does complaining and being concerned about the product on the field lead anywhere near being a dissenter of the program? No one here was blindly criticizing the defense last year because it actually performed. The defense has looked like **** this season, so people criticize. That's like saying you're not a patriot if you want change for the better of your country.

Diaz' past is not perfect by any means, so expect scrutiny if signs of his deficiencies resurface. Guarantee you that every fan on this board would rather see the defense improve then to fire Diaz.

AND L O ******* L that Golden coaching the program would have benefited the football team in any way shape or form. The guy gets credit for collecting millions and not leaving? He wanted to slither away the first chance he got before any of the anti-Golden backlash picked up steam.

Calling for everyone to be fired is too far at this point, but then again not that many posters have suggested that. You're another poster too sensitive to watch anyone say anything negative about the program. Some people can't emotionally handle negativity at all, you seem like the type that needs flowers shoved up his *** daily to stay emotionally stable.

You're like a broad complaining about her ex-husband who couldn't wait to get away from her, yet years later she whines and moans about him. Even Bruce Jenner did a better job of hiding his feminine side than you are doing. And that line of refried-crap about; "We are the real fans because we are always complaining, crying, criticizing some aspect of the program and it also means we really, really, really know a lot about football". If Diaz sat down with you for 3 minutes he would have you wetting yourself and asking for your mamma...you simply don't know what you don't know!

Worst of all you show a photo of Hunter S. Thompson who wouldn't allow you to be his urine boy. Hunter once said; “The mind of America is seized by a fatal dry rot, and it’s only a question of time before all that the mind controls will run amok in a frenzy of stupid, impotent fear.” Normally, I would ask the reader to take some time and think about how that quote applies to them, but the 'think' part and you should never fear running into one another.

Finally, you brought Al Golden into the conversation and because I respond to you--you go into a tizzy fit gurgling up some nonsense that I am projecting and speak to my ego. You see it was not about projecting or ego, but an effort to educate the uneducated...I failed!

The problem is at Mississippi St. and Texas he had great first years and pretty bad second years. So it is not irrational to be concerned when the defense hasn't played as well as it did last year especially considering the competition.

Not hoping for Manny's failure.. He just need to stop with this ****ery he is doing this season. I'm starting to get 2012 flashbacks watching this **** this year. I still can't comprehend why we just can't find a DC that runs a normal 4-3 defense that can make HT/In game adjustments. It always the same thing with each DC. Under RS - we can't stop TE, No D - Read and react prevent defense bull****, now with Manny alignment and trying to be to cute for no reason with the blitzes. It annoying and I'm just bracing myself if we end up having a Year 2 at Texas Manny like defense.

Something tells me Richt will put a stop to it, if he hasn't already. He might not pay a lot of attention to the nuts and bolts of the defense, but he knows when something's not working. Diaz needs to just let the kids play and let their talent advantage make a difference. Right now, the way he's playing the DB's is taking away from the talent on the DL.

I just would like to see us dictating more of the receivers routes press man get hands on them stop letting free runners that throws off everything for a timing offense.

Nothing has changed except we had 4 count them 4 db's that made 53 man rosters. You don't replace that. You just don't.

Yeah we had a very talented starting db group last year. We don’t have much depth this year at db but that will change after the 2018 class

OP over react to things you can't control much? Fanatics are fanatics; it is what we do.

It is weird to me how some people in our fanbase can act.

For many, many weeks people around here have been championing Diaz and the defense as possibly the best in the Nation.
Then we have an opener that wasn't up to lofty expectations (but hey, it was an opener) and a crazy layoff after a hurricane, another game that wasn't up to expectations against a good offense/system and probably the best QB we will face all season long...
...and now everyone is running around like chickens without heads saying Diaz can't coach and saying some of the players should be benched after such an awkward start to the season.
Tonight if the Defense lights up Duke some of these same people are going to say we are back.Such a fickle and reactionary crew we have around here.

Diaz was the Ritz cra.cker to our starving, fly-engulfed, distended-bellied Ethiopian fan base last year. He was hailed as a conquering hero because he did what every other DC not named Doritos or Miller did at UM during the last 30 years.

The ballyhooed defense has been an abomination this year though. Let's see if he can rally or if he repeats his history over the course of his career as a DC.

Where your tough guy argument falls short, I never complained about anything. I'm pointing out that your "coach knows more than the fan base, therefor they can do no wrong" is a bunk argument we saw through the last regime.

Anyone with eyes can see the defense has been **** this season. It's a message board... it will get brought up, a lot. The "a win is a win" or "anyone who complains isn't a fan" narrative is typical super fan bull****.

This . Anyone acting like our D sucks is beyond a dumbass. Our front 7 has been great and our secondary which is super young in terms of playing for this team is making some mistakes . It happens. By game 6-7 our D will be a whole unit . Right now we are a great front 7 with a super ordinary back 4 . That will change . But I also think people don't understand Toledo had the best Qb we will see all year unless we play Clemson. They also had one really good WR who will be in the NFL.

I know we don't want to accept the reality of the situation but here's the facts....

1.) Last year's defense wasnt CoRch Diazs true scheme.

2.) He simplified it by allowing corners to play more press man, Jaquan to cover the nickel / olb. And Pinckney and Quarterman could play more freely.

This year is the real defense... corners 20 yards off, everyone has to think twice about their assignments causing them to always seem to be one step behind chasing the offense every other play. Very similar to a Dorito defense except in 4-3 form.

This hire was a mistake... coach richt is going to have to fire Diaz.

Yep. He said all the rights things that made us slide our panties off.

" four man front ", " Miami defense " and " attacking ".

He had me " Miami defense ".

But I still think the last two weeks is awful. Hopefully he fixes it.

Yes coach Rick should fire Diaz.

Should he do it right now, or wait until right after the game tonight?

Your opinions are highly valued here at CIS, so I'd really like to know.

While it's far too early to be screaming for Diaz's head, I don't believe anyone is above criticism. Nobody had a problem with heaping mounds of praise on Diaz after the first two games last year. Why get all upset over when people get critical after two games this year? He's got plenty of time to tighten things up. I'm sure adjustments will be made. If not, then by all means move on to the next guy. Sitting around accepting poor performances because "the coach knows more than you" is what we did for a majority of Golden's tenure. Do good, get praise. Do poorly, get criticism.
