If his wide receivers produce like last season I don’t see how you get rid of him.we had the 1 offense in the country
He gets a lot of heat because he tends to miss on the local elite kid every year (Jeremiah Smith, Brandon Innis) but he’s pulled a bunch of really highly rated kids. Including last year’s top local kid, Josh Moore. Receiver recruiting has far outpaced almost every other position on the roster, especially DB, LB and QB and the players have produced on the field. So, I don’t really get the hate. If the receivers play well this year and he manages to land Keys or Russell, I don’t think anyone can *****. If he misses on those guys and nobody in this receiver group stands out, he could be in hot water.
EXACTLY.Yeah, but that’s not a problem specific to Beard. Miami has been missing out on elite receivers for decades.

How so? The only recruits who've done anything, since Mario arrived, are Horton and Colbie from the 2022 class. We've actually done better at LB/DB -- Wes, Popo, Damari, Pruitt, Day, and OJ. It's been an issue but "far outpaced" is crazy. He gets a lot of heat because he tends to miss on the local elite kid every year (Jeremiah Smith, Brandon Innis) but he’s pulled a bunch of really highly rated kids. Although imo this would be taking it a Tad bit too farShe would put a Foote in his ***...
What am I missing?Great dude? That's interesting
You're not missing anything. When staff members don't perform at a task to a standard that cis wants, ppl here then like to create narratives. Something must be wrong with them if they can't get kids to come to a school who has been shvts for 2 whole decades - cis logic. What am I missing?
I don’t think being featured is an issue with our offense. Restrepo caught 69 passes for 1127 yards and 11 TDs in 12 games last year. Jeremiah Smith went 76 1315 15 in 16 games. Restrepo had better per game numbers but if Smith was in the draft last year, he would have been a first rounder while. X went undrafted. Arroyo also would have been drafted higher if he more than one year of health/production. There’s no schematic reason why a receiver wouldn’t want to play here. There’s nothing Dawson or Beard could have done that would have gotten X, George and Brown drafted. The NFL cares about physical measurables over production anyway. He’s got a tough task… he’s asked to bring in high end guys and going coaches and offensive systems that have been WR centric and known for putting guys in the first round. Bring intentional about getting guys the ball.
Gotta break the seal with that… once we get one 1st rounder then we can start beating out these other school for the “high end” talent.
When I watched Ohio State play they had the ability to run the ball just as effectively as we did/do. JS played with other WRs who have high draft grades… but they were still intentional and I believe that’s what the kids care about. And until we show a commitment to showcasing pass catchers it’s going to be tough to beat those other teams out.
Look at Arroyo… from a talent standpoint he was absolutely good enough to win the Mackey. What we did offensively he “could” have put up better numbers than he did… that wasn’t our philosophy. And Dawson commented to that after the season.
Our best receiver just went undrafted… what’s the sell? What do we tell recruits to get them to come here if the money is the same?
WRs more than anybody else care about that stuff.
Receiver recruiting. Our average receiver recruit has been much higher rated than pretty much every position outside of defensive line. The guys Beard recruited just haven’t played yet because we had a veteran group ahead of them. Remember, Bears hasn’t been here as long as Mario. Gattis was the first WR coach. His recruits didn’t pan out.How so? The only recruits who've done anything, since Mario arrived, are Horton and Colbie from the 2022 class. Ok so Beard didn’t miss on Innis. So it’s really just Smith.
That is true. A lot of it had to do with the fact that we weren’t a real program for a long time. We had budget coaches and budget facilities and couldn’t pay the under the table cash that those kids all wanted. Now we have money. We have an offense that is actually good for receivers to play in and an athletic department that’s taking football seriously.Yeah, but that’s not a problem specific to Beard. Miami has been missing out on elite receivers for decades.
@CaneThang2020 Couldn’t resist the temptation, huh?Although imo this would be taking it a Tad bit too far![]()
