Clemson

5-1 after 7 innings. McKendry is starting to labor a bit. It’s time to bring in a defensive replacement at first. No official errors from Toral, but he’s been a little sketchy defensively.

Toral drives in a run to stretch the lead to 6-1 through 8. Still would like Gil in to close the game at first.

Canes win 6-1! Complete game from McKendry. Huge series win out of nowhere cracking the postseason door open. Hopefully they come out with energy and complete the sweep. Bartow warmed up in the 9th so it appears everyone is available.

Masterful complete game pitched by Evan McKendry. Canes win 6-1 to take the the series 2-0.

Let's see if we can get a sweep.

Off to the Rock for the Spring game!!!

Same lineup for game 2 with Quinones catching and Amditis as the DH.

Cabezas wiggles out of a mini jam and the Canes lead 2-0 through 2.

No Reyes again? Any word.
Looking through the official twitter account, someone asked earlier and they responded that he was available. Think it’s a matter of wanting Amditis to catch game 1 but not leaving Quinones out of the lineup, and then leaving the lineup alone after a great performance for game 2.

Cabezas with 5 Ks through 4 innings. Still 2-0. We’ve struck out 6 times (4 looking). The umpire’s strike zone has gotten wide but he’s giving it both ways.

Infield single, Rivera error, walk, double. Game is tied. Cabezas still in trouble with nobody out.

Cabezas implodes following the Rivera error. Clemson leads 7-2. Some things never change. Still no outs in the inning.

Not sure I’ve ever seen a pitcher strikeout the side in an inning in which they gave up 7 runs.

Everything was going our way and we shot ourselves in the foot. Again.

Still will be a great series win but the difference between 3 and 5 games below .500 is huge for our slim postseason hopes.

Canes lose the final game 8-3. It’s a good series win that improved the RPI a bit but it’s still a long road back. This series keeps our postseason chances on life support for another week. The schedule is much more favorable from here, with an FSU team that will end the weekend no better than .500 in the ACC our toughest remaining series. We have to start producing 3-1 and 4-0 weeks which requires much better starting pitching than we got this weekend (sans McKendry of course who was great) and us to stop losing midweek games.
