Class of 2016 Predictions

I like all your choices.

Most immediate I would say is Shaq. He is the leader, won coaches award this spring, and seems to be an Alpha. He should start at MLB as a true freshman from day 1.

I think Shaq and Joe Jackson will be co best players of the class.

I am looking forward to watching Sam Bruce. His short area quickness, and game breaking ability should be fun to watch.

I would say I think people are sleeping on Homer at least long term. That seems to be a good hardworking kid, who is showed explosiveness in the sparq testing.

Agreed 100% on Homer. He was slept on because he played at a small school and was very quiet during the recruiting period. He was the best back in Florida and has the measurables to back it up.

Joe Jackson and it ain't close. All you need to watch are his offensive clips to come to that conclusion. Sammy Bruce on offense.

Ahmonn Richards...

Now that camp is almost here, what are some of your expectations for the Class of 2016? Specifically:

  • Who will make the most immediate impact?
  • Who will ultimately be the best player in the class?
  • Who are you most looking forward to watching?
  • Who is everyone sleeping on that will make an impact?
For me, Shaq Quarterman and Mike Pinckney will make the most immediate impact. This is kind of cheating since they're already starters, but they are as mentally ready as Sean Spence, Jon Vilma and Denzel Perryman were at the same age. I included them together because it's impossible to separate them. Shaq is more of a thumper, Pinckney is a little quicker. Both have a chance to be really special.

I think Joe Jackson will be the best player in the class. His physical talent is unrivaled and he's already generating buzz in workouts. He has the best position coach on the staff and he plays a position that makes big money. Other candidates are the linebackers (including Zack McCloud, who has the most upside of the three) and Ahmonn Richards.

I'm most looking forward to watching Sam Bruce. His playing style is electrifying and I'm curious to see how his game translates. I'm also excited to see Jack Allison. He showed flashes in spring and seems to have grown another inch or two. He reminds me of a 6'6 Stephen Morris with better coaching.

The guy people are sleeping on is Michael Irvin II. The failures of prospects like Ray Lewis III and Kevin Olsen hurt his perception. Irvin dominated at the small school level and showed me a lot at STA, where they used him all over the field in big games. I think he can be the heir apparent to Chris Herndon as the Swiss Army Knife of the offense. I also think that Malek Young may be more of a stud than the hype would indicate.

LOL - so why don't we just name the entire class and crown them all first round draft picks. Let's be honest, I hope Pickney/McCloud/Shaq are the next coming of former all-pro LBs, but it's a bit alarming that they're starting. It's rare a freshman LB ever starts, yet alone two. Richards and Bruce make sense because WR depth is low, typically that's a position were freshman can get on, and they can help on special teams.

If he isn't suspended for the first two games, Sam Bruce will score in both games via KR, PR, rushing, or receiving.

And here I was thinking that if Sam Bruce was going to score a TD, it'd be by passing the ball. Thanks for clarifying that.

Immediate impact guy: Shaq of course. Kid is the most college ready. Has the body, drive and the talent
Best overall: Sticking with Shaq. Just think he has a great career here. Big tough kid. Possibly Pinckney, he also seems to flash.
Looking forward to watching: Finley. I just miss having a safety that is big and fast enough to really blow people up.
Sleeper: James. I can see that kid becoming a player here. It may take him a bit to get there but he just might. Possibly Tre Johnson as well. That kid looks the part, is athletic. He could actually develop into a legit player here.

I think the player with immediate impact ability is Shaq. He's already physically ready and when he totally gets the mental aspect down, he'll be an absolute monster.

I think it's tough to pick the best overall player in this class but I'll say Richards. He will have an immediate impact as well.

The one I'm most excited to watch is, well, all of them. Anyone who wears the orange and green I'm excited about watching them bring this program back to excellence.

The sleeper I'll say is Jackson because you don't here his name enough. He'll get the benefit of working with a great coach and if he can contribute right away then let him eat.

Most immediate impact: Shaq: starter day 1 at MLB is quite the feat and the kid has the poise of someone much older.
Best player in this class: Joe Jackson is the safe choice, but I'm going with Cactus Jack Allison. Kid is still raw as a prospect but will benefit from some great coaching and has the arm talent that is off the charts.
Most looking forward to watching: The 3 freshman WR's and LB's: the talent we brought in at those positions was huge and I'm curious to see all 6 guys make an impact.
People sleeping on: Travis Homer: kid is very young and has the measurables to be a big-time back for us.

I agree Shaq and Richards need to step up from Day 1.

Always surprises me how little people talk about him. Maybe my expectations are too high, but I don't see a more talented back on our roster. I expect him to have the biggest impact on the offensive side both this year and career.

I think most immediate impact will be Shaq. Not only because he's starting, but even more so because he's playing Mike. Not sure if Diaz will allow him to make calls as a true freshman or not, but the Mike is the leader of the defense. I think he'll be more impactful than Pinckney.

Best player in the class I'll go McCloud. I like his upside most of the three LBs.

I'm most looking forward to Richards. Pete mentioned that he did clock in the mid 4.3s. Can wait to see him playing with Coley. He should get a lot of one-on-one looks with Coley drawing more attention.

People are sleeping on Romeo Finley. This staff came in late and stole a hard hitting safety with some range from Clemson.

That's a high praise quote coming from a future first round QB....

Looking forward to see what Irvin part 2 can do....

And who knows? Maybe the other TE we got from NJ (Haskins) will be alright, too....

Olsen turned out pretty well as a NJ TE and Njoku is fast on his way to earning a fat NFL paycheck, too...

I saw this after I made my post, but it's worth noting. Kaaya on Michael Irvin II:

“He shocked me with how athletic he is,” he said of Irvin (6-3, 230). “He’s really quick. He’s fast, man. And he’s got his dad’s hands — huge hands. His catch radius, for a tight end, I think he has one of the best catch radiuses on the team. I can throw him a ball, he can one-hand it, he can lay out for it. He’s a good athlete. I think he’s going to be really special. Maybe even just as good if not better than his dad was, at some point, at his position. At tight end, I think he can be just as much as a legend as his dad.”

Immediate Impact - Ahmmon Richards
Best Career - Joe Jackson
Looking forward to see play - Shaq Quarterman
Sleeper - Romeo Finley
