Smith can stay up there in the ******** of Ohio. He was to soft to come build a championship team here. He turned his back on his hometown. We don’t need guys like that

I’m out here by Cal Berkeley. I don’t know what they’re paying him but if they want to pay they can certainly do it. Like they’ve got money and alumni and they may be willing to match anyone. He seems locked in to the school and program. He left Oregon for Cal. I’d be shocked if he went in the portal.

100% on JKS, too bad he's sticking with Cal. ... w/r/t Mestemaker, aren't you worried about his ceiling? He hasn't played against top defenses. I get Morris also found Ward and Mateer. But at least those guys played P4 comp, some decent. I don't trust Mestemaker's judgment. Would rather have Bailey, personally.

Yep. But that program is hot garbage, needs a full rebuild including at OL and WR. Mestemaker would be crazy to follow him. I just think he's too risky himself. You don't hire an unproven G5 HC and you don't pay up for an unproven G5 QB IMHO.

There’s no perfect candidate in the portal at the moment especially if we aren’t 100% sure who will be our OC next year

Probably about 15 QBs that could win a lot of games for us next year and one of them might be Luke Nickel

Makes for some interesting discussion

If he was from any other place in the country, he’s not even on our radar.

Multi-pick games against Duke, ND, and Miami. In two of those three games he threw 3 of them.

He was absolute trash against us, managing an unplayable 16.7 QBR. Half the season he was in the 60s or lower.

He is very accurate against bad or mediocre teams. Well, except Memphis and Pitt. Or of course the teams that he threw the ball to multiple times.

We would be inserting a steel-reinforced ceiling above our heads if this is who we choose as our QB1 next year. With Miami’s level of resources he should not be in the conversation.
