Whoever will be selected needs to be someone with a high ceiling or with a playstyle that elevates the entire offense as a whole.Just like I said last year, our coaches have likely already evaluated our roster and are already sure whether or not they are going to take another transfer quarterback next season. There just won’t be another Pop Tarts Bowl to show people how bad the situation might actually be. There’s people with some very loud opinions in this thread that were ride or die for Emory Williams before that game so I’ve learned just to trust the football I can actually watch and not what other people say they are in practice.
Right now, there is no Can Ward in the portal. There’s probably not even a Carson Beck. Everyone who’s entered or being discussed has flaws. CJ Bailey is clearly not a finished product and has been inconsistent. Which isn’t surprising for a true sophomore. He’s got room to improve but is he a guy you hand the keys to and say “win is a championship”? Probably not but that guy isn’t out there. At least right now.
2025 was one of the weakest quarterback seasons in a long time. Nobody looks particularly awesome and I feel bad for NFL teams looking to draft someone this year. Fernando Mendoza wouldn’t have even been invited to New York last year. (His numbers are almost identical to the kid who played quarterback for them last year) The reason Indiana is better is because their defense got a lot better. The held Oregon to 20 and Ohio State to 10 points. ****, they scored more against Ohio State last year when they lost 38-15.
Which means it has to be someone who can scramble and is athletic at the very least. QB play is down horrendously.
