CJ Bailey needs to come home

Embrace the prospect of being successful with local kids.

People are traumatized from the dark ages of this program and forgetting part of what made this program not only successful nationally, but also why it’s generated as much support at home as it has.

It’s different rooting for UM in Miami than an nfl franchise. This university program has deeply embedded cultural roots. It is not some corporation or franchise.

Watching Toney and Bain do their thing at Miami is as cool as it gets as a fan.

Watching Wes close out his career with a solid senior season in a nationally elite defense has also been nice to see.
I don’t think it necessarily it needs to be “local” kids. Just kids we recruited and signed from high school

I’ve said this forever. If you don’t show these young QB’s that they’re just going to sit for 3-4 years watching rentals then why should they even consider us.
Why can’t we have a QB that succeeds early as MANY other schools do as Fr or RSF ? At some point we are going to have to trust the evals you made in getting these kids here and at least find out if they can play or not.We had many chances to let Luke gain some experience this year and Mario kept running A kid out there that anyone that’s ever watched a CFB game would know he’s not a starter.

Now why was this? Did you miss on Luke ? Can he not learn the playbook? He should have been the choice every chance we had to play a backup but all we saw was Emory who belongs in the FBS at best.At some point we have to get a kid in here that we have for 3-4 years.
Name the "many" .... you won't be able to and then on top of that the one's that are even remotely close to being good enough are getting paid the same that Ward/Beck did with the ridiculous risk of potentially being huge busts.

This is just a silly argument b/c the bust rate for top 10 rated 5* QBs is like 75%+

Luke Nickle & it's not even close. At some point we're gonna have to show TOP TIER HIGH SCHOOL QBS were capable of developing them and were a logical choice for them because we will play them. I like Nickles game but more importantly it's a timing thing. We will be breaking in a lot of new starters next year on both sides of the ball. Let them play and develop together. If we keep going for a quick one year option at QB from the portal every year we might as well make the decision moving forward not to bother wasting time and resources on recruiting high school QBs. I understand the logic obviously in taking a PROVEN portal QB. But when so many other prices are also gonna be in transition then it's an opportunity to prove what we're capable of. I'd play nickle and water down the playbook to limit his risks. No different from what Ohio State has done with sayin or Oregon with moore or bama with simpson or georgia with their QB. The schools that take this serious look for stability and multiple years out of essentially the most important player on the field. Can't do that if it's a new one every year. As I've said all along about the portal. When you're a school that recruits and develops their recruits than the portal is something you go to simply to fill in the blanks. It's about finishing touches on what is already a built roster. Not a base to what you're doing. Gonna be bumps in the road but that's how you develop culture and build a machine. We can't constantly process what we are then don't have our actions back up our words.
My concern is.. if we don't take a portal QB we'll end up stuck with Emory under center instead of Nickel. If there were ever a year to break in a young QB, it's next year.

The schedule isn't exactly the most difficult. We've only got 11 games scheduled right now after uSC bailed. But that 12th game will most likely be an easy G5/FCS opponent.

With that in mind, we'll get to 7 wins without getting off the bus. These 7 teams do not pose a realistic threat of pulling an upset.

FAMU, Central Michigan, BC, @ Stanford, @ Wake Forest, @ UNC, yet to be scheduled G5/FCS team.

FSU is still a train wreck and the game is at home. So there's 8 wins.

At this point, I think we can all admit that Mario is going to drop one he shouldn't. To me, that's ONE of VT or Pitt. Both games are at home though. Either way, a split gets us to 9 wins.

All that's left on the schedule is @ Clemson and @ ND, and Clemson's roster will look a lot worse than it does this year.

After seeing how manageable the schedule is, what's the play? Go with Nickel let him take his lumps? Or go portal and take advantage of the schedule?

Who? Leavitt is definitely not a better passer. Sorsby isn't better. Kid from Pitt isn't better. Where's the Cam Ward this year?

JKS is basically the only prospect anyone has brought up who may be better but he's not currently better. That's a projection into being a 2nd year starter. Maybe maybe Sellers. Not sure he can keep up in the passing game but he's certainly got more potential than Leavitt.

Sorsby is headed to the league.

I'd take Colton Joseph, Leavitt, and Mestemaker over Bailey. Would probably take the Stokes kid but he's not for the culture at Miami.

Give it a month and there will be better and more names that come out. Personally, I don't think Bailey leaves NC State either.

Leavitt is a garbage passing QB. Never once in 3 years of playing has he demonstrated nearly the accuracy and down field passing as CJ. Sorsby has never had as good as production as Bailey. Mastemaker is probably following his HC and frankly I'm not sure he's better.

Ur just throwing names out there. This is where the dog catches the bus. It's easy to say Miami should take better, it's another thing to actually name them. I'd prefer a better prospect than CJ but I'm still waiting on anyone to name one.

Sucks you got sand in your ****** but sure seems to me like you were implying it's a problem. Who on the current roster would you feel at all confident in starting next year and not being a monumental decline from what we've had with Ward/Beck?
I responded in-kind. I don't have a problem with getting qb's out of the portal if you need them. I do have a problem with the tactic of just expecting to get a playoff caliber qb out of the portal every year. We've lucked out in the portal considering we weren't able to pull our first choices either year. A lot of people act like it's a store you just go grab what you want off the shelf. It hasn't worked like that for us yet and not every qb wants to come here.

I've named 3 guys that I've watched this year multiple times that I would take over him for different reasons. Leavitt and Joseph both bring a running ability/being able to escape when the pocket breaks down that will be needed when the Oline takes a step back next year. Mastemaker is just a dog.

Bo nix, Joe burrow, Jayden Daniels , Fernando Mendoza all had crazy years after leaving their teams to go to more talent . Why not Baily !? He has all the measurables to be great
Look at the NFL. Situation and coaching is huge . Pro and college has very few game changers at qb that can raise the entire franchise . There is a lot of guys that can play well if surrounded with an offense that fits skill set and quality talent surrounding them.

It's possible. Don't think so though. **** be third round or so I'd imagine. It's probably time he moves on. The main thing agents try to pitch for someone like him isnt draft position. It's his game being solid enough to get a decent first contract where he's at so he can position himself for a big 2nd contract. Longer he stays here the more he diminishes that opportunity because the physical positions in particular have a shelf life on how long they'll be able to play let alone be difference makers.

I was counting on Moten coming back. Losing him would be a major blow to the team.

If “retooling” means your young 5-star guys, who played plenty of snaps and looked good in the process, have to step into starting roles, then sign me up for retooling every year.

There might be 5 teams in the nation that would not trade personnel with Miami coming into next season. We have dudes all over the DL.

OL is less proven, but I trust our coaches there. If bell stays and Samson kicks out to RT, we just need a couple guys to step up at G or hit the portal there.

In the portal era you can’t really say losing a 3rd -7th rd pick is a big blow until you see who they replace them with. It’s not the same as it used to be.

I would like him to stay but he is graduated and time to move on. Ill judge the roster come March of 2026.

Everyone that leaves frees up cash to go get another guy.

Miami has not recruited DT well enough but they will have the money to poach another DT to go next to Scott and Simpson.

Leavitt sucks and is injured. He's had a terrible season and is inaccurate and inconsistent. On his best day can't come close to CJ. Delusional take. Also we don't need a running QB. Terrible fit for what we need. Not sure why you want more defenses to stack the box. We need an accurate passing QB taking shots 20 yards or more to punish defenses trying to load up on the run game.
