CJ Bailey needs to come home

I was counting on Moten coming back. Losing him would be a major blow to the team.
He's likely coming back according to sauces.

Unless he's a 1-3rd round pick (and we've overvalue Miami players for the last 20 years so he's not) he will make more money coming back.

Leavitt sucks and is injured. He's had a terrible season and is inaccurate and inconsistent. On his best day can't come close to CJ. Delusional take. Also we don't need a running QB. Terrible fit for what we need. Not sure why you want more defenses to stack the box. We need an accurate passing QB taking shots 20 yards or more to punish defenses trying to load up on the run game.

You related to CJ or something? Getting very upset for a difference of opinions

People must not remember how bad Joe burrow was before he got talent around him ! You can see who don’t really know football on this chat.
Huh? You mean Joe burrow as in the ohio state buckeyes 2nd string QB? Back up to Cardale jones? That Joe Burrow didn't have talent around him? Was this sarcasm? I'd definitely agree you can usually see what people don't know football on these chats. Here in general.

It's just nonsense and illogical. CJ is putting up excellent numbers, clearly a very accurate kid with size and mobility. He's head and shoulders ahead there. Yet some of you are just blind. None of these other QBs are Cam Ward. They all have questions and concerns and none of them are extremely talented. The class overall is weak. Doesn't make any sense TBH

The thing about Burrow is he wasn't bad in my opinion. He was good but not great. Most fans think these guys can't improve. Some do improve, some don't improve, some make superstar leaps like Burrow and Jayden Daniels.
Jesus **** my life christ... So leaps is how this is described? Joe Burrow in his two seasons as a third string QB at OSU behind Cardale jones and JT barret had 39 passing attempts. 29 completions. Literally nothing was asked of him. His first year as a starter was his first year at LSU where they went 10-3 and didn't ask a lot out of him. 2900 yards 16tds, 7 tds rushing and 5 picks...

Jaydin daniels was a freshman all American. He was a semi finalist for national freshman of the year. Had 5 300+ yard passing games all as a true freshman. Kid was a beast.

Really not sure what some of y'all are comparing people to before y'all say stuff. ***** crazy to even mention either of these dudes like they had struggles as starters let alone not acknowledge the fact their trajectory from day 1 was that of a superstar...

My concern is.. if we don't take a portal QB we'll end up stuck with Emory under center instead of Nickel. If there were ever a year to break in a young QB, it's next year.

The schedule isn't exactly the most difficult. We've only got 11 games scheduled right now after uSC bailed. But that 12th game will most likely be an easy G5/FCS opponent.

With that in mind, we'll get to 7 wins without getting off the bus. These 7 teams do not pose a realistic threat of pulling an upset.

FAMU, Central Michigan, BC, @ Stanford, @ Wake Forest, @ UNC, yet to be scheduled G5/FCS team.

FSU is still a train wreck and the game is at home. So there's 8 wins.

At this point, I think we can all admit that Mario is going to drop one he shouldn't. To me, that's ONE of VT or Pitt. Both games are at home though. Either way, a split gets us to 9 wins.

All that's left on the schedule is @ Clemson and @ ND, and Clemson's roster will look a lot worse than it does this year.

After seeing how manageable the schedule is, what's the play? Go with Nickel let him take his lumps? Or go portal and take advantage of the schedule?
Young qb

He's a better passer than Bailey imo

I mean…This Bailey ain't no Warren Moon. The cult-ike Bailey following on here is getting carried away.
Lol it's not even remotely close lol. Leavitt is inaccurate and inconsistent. He's never been as productive as CJ. Not to mention he had a beastly running game to coast by on. It was easy and his passing stats still sucked. Leavitt can definitely run the **** out of the ball tho.

Definitely will be and he might. Just wouldn't be the smartest of moves for him long term. Best case he spends another year developing. More than likely gets second round at best if not stay as a third or fourth due to his injury history and age. Would also mean one year further he pushes out the opportunity to get into life changing money in contract 2... NFL is all about what comes after your first contract.

Hollywood Smothers might take issue with that. You're saying some stuff that don't make sense statistically brother...

Not sure who told you that. Last season devin brown was chip Kelly's personal project. I have a friend on that staff and it's widely known if chip kelly would have stayed sayin was jumping back in the portal. His game would never belong in a chip kelly offense. All the same I get what you're saying. Simply disagree. #1 to a fan dropping down to 8 wins is horrible. To a football team getting to 8 wins while having upward trajectory in developing our own recruits can go a long way towards the teams future. Think us in 99 because our 97 & 98 classes had the opportunity to mesh. We built the best college football team ever as a result of 99 in particular and 2000. Sacrifice is necessary for progress. The alternative is spend 2 to 4 million on a QB while also having to spend on your oline, your dline, definitely your lbs & possibly another te. Too much is in transition next year to think spending on another quick fix at QB is a solid answer. I'm fine with taking another QB as long as it's someone who will be here for multiple years. Otherwise I'll pass and simply develop nickle and coleman.
A lot of grammar errors in this but did this guy try to say 8 wins is a good thing?

I’m not that old. lol.

I was referring to him coaching Kelly, Kosar, Richt, and Teataverde at UM in the early 80’s.

Smothers is a good player. By all means please do prove me wrong.......I've put some effort behind my opinion here. I've been watching CJ all year and the others also and looking over the stats. Cj has an edge over the others.passing the football and he's been providing you wrong all year too. I know I'm onto something when the stat genius himself Lance Roffers is in agreement with me. So good luck

I mean PFF isn't the be all end all…Not the bible by any means

But the last two seasons
Leavitt 23 Big time Throws/8 Turnover worthy plays
Bailey 25 BTT/32 Turnover worth plays

Is a pretty big gap

The schedules were similar this year, but ASU's was definitely tougher last year. And those numbers are with Leavitt trying to play thru injury this year.

I've seen both play 3-4 games. I'll take Leavitt all day.

Nowhere did I or anyone in this thread but you bring up Cam Ward.

He put up average numbers for a P5 QB this year and was streaky, which is normal for a true sophomore. If he wasn't from SFL he wouldn't be as hyped up by this board.

I do agree with you that this QB transfer class will be weaker than previous years, but I do know there will be better options than him that hit the portal. How much $$$$$ they will want will differ as well
