You can easily bust out drafting on measurables, those are the guys that can(and do) get GMs fired. That said, drafting guys that lack that superlative ability super early can and will get you fired as well, without the possible upside. If you are going to spend first round money on a QB, you better end up with a legit franchise player, or someone with the physical ability to be a game changer. Fernando Mendoza doesn't have that physical ability, it would be akin to drafting a less successful Matt Leinart first overall, and we saw how much Matt struggled in the NFL. Mendoza is the kind of guy you take in the 2-3rd round, and he finds a way to ball out in preseason and takes the job.
