CJ Bailey needs to come home

The good thing is that the elite NIL teams mostly have QB's who will return or freshman they promised the job:
Texas- Arch Manning
Oregon-Dante Moore
Alabama- Russell
Ohio State- Sayin
Michigan-Underwood
Auburn- Jackson or Duece Knight
UF- Lagway or whoever lane brings with him
Penn State- who cares
FSU-who cares

Very little competition for QB's on the open market maybe just Oklahoma and USC?
I think Moore is going to play himself into being a high pick this year.

Miami needs to have their ducks in a row and ready to rock for end of season, cause there is no spring window. Better start playing back channels on the next QB by end of October and early November. Our OFF line, RBs, WR, and TE gonna be stacked again next year. We need a serious highly competent QB to take the reins. This roster cant afford 1-2 years of development. The Def Line and DBs are also gonna be stacked. Win now mode again in 2026
There is no portal window. Pretty sure lucas proved this already

What’s the window look like now?

Mendoza & Bailey are both average QB's who dink & dunk their way through games.

They're not high level passers & are not team elevators.

You only hype them up because they're from South FL, but realistically speaking they're nothing more than glorified game managers.

They'll give 200+ a game & 2 tuddy's, but there's absolutely nothing special about either one of them.

If they were from anywhere else, you would never even watch them.

The bar is so low, that anything they do that isn't complete failure gets paraded.

Mendoza is not going to win the Heisman. He maybe could get drafted in 1st round, but that has more to do with dumb NFL GM's who overdraft the position due to desperation in a QB needy league.
This is so ******* true I’m so sick of hearing about the guy who is a quarterback at NC State who couldn’t beat a team that just fired its coach five days ago because it’s such a dumpster fire

Also, just my opinion, but for those who think that JKS is a target in a portal I don’t think so. He was a five star originally committed to Cal went to Oregon saw that it wasn’t for him or that he was getting beat out or both and went back to Cal. And if you don’t think Cal has the ability to pay him a ton of money despite what happened with Mendoza I’m telling you right now that their boosters will come out to change the narrative and not let that guy get away. I think he actually just wants to be there as well which is priceless.

He is very good but if he was smart he would get more reps.
I agree. But with this being a weak QB class I’ve been curious for a while just how high he could rise. If he plays well and they beat Indiana in a few weeks, 1.1 buzz starting up wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Old Dominion
Kennesaw St.
Indiana St.
Illinois (over-ranked at the time)
Iowa

They're 5-0 with a favorable schedule, but they haven't really been tested, IMHO.

If Moore's really good this year, he should strike while the iron is hot before his flaws are exposed.

The '26 QB class looks awful given how all the hyped names have stunk hard, and if Oregon goes deep into the Playoffs, some desperate GM will pick Moore pretty high.

It’s more about being ready for the NFL. Quarterbacks with a lot of starts tend to do better, and those with less starts often bust.

I like Austin Simmons. Maybe it’s the physical resemblance but he has some Tua traits that can be accentuated by an Alabama-style offense and big OL.

Ole Miss might have more QB movement than expected before the season. Trinidad Chambliss has another year of eligibility.
You think any chance we go for Drew Mestemaker... or really anyone with 2 years of eligibility? Or another 1 year guy with plan to turn to Nickel/Coleman following year? I mean technically Mestemaker may not stay another 2 years after this one...

That NTexas coach could end up a few hours north in Oklahoma. Why wouldn’t he try to bring the kid north? I’d check that coach’s roster and do a switch of Judd for a backup in a heartbeat. Guy is 3x3 if not 4x4. Cam, mateer, mestemaker, and didn’t he have a kid transfer this year?

He’s a media creation now. Before, people told me he was a CIS Cuban creation.

We can revisit this thread in a few months and see if he goes 5th round as you suggest. I think a lot of people are digging their heels in because they aren’t ready to admit they were wrong.
If he ultimately goes 1st round I will gladly eat my words. He'd be a local kid who positioned himself to lead an NFL franchise from little to no fanfare out of HS. Until then, I don't quite see it.
