CJ Bailey needs to come home

It’s not that CJ Bailey is a can’t miss superstar. It’s that he was begging for a Miami offer and Shannon Dawson preferred Judd Anderson. We could have had him for free and now we’re going to have to throw a ton of money at him in the portal.

UM has to develop its own QB's instead of using one year rentals. William, Nickel, Anderson and Coleman are in the room for 2026. Bringing another portal QB will mean 1-2 or even 3 QB's in the room may also portal. Same thing at center, UM Is on their 3rd rental center in a row. Need to start developing centers our their own OL room.

Kids that get shunned sometimes hold a grudge. Getting way ahead of ourselves but hope that isn’t the case here. Plus one thing that can bury an axe is $.

Also have to track Medoza. I’m not all in on D$’s argument about the portal QBs because the shark tank will be full of chum and blood next time around. But Miami should definitely have an advantage given the Florida QB bench.

why? CJ Bailey or some other portal QB will be our QB next year. No way they turn this over to a QB on our roster.

I mean… sure. But we’ve seen Emory and he stunk. Based on what I’ve heard out of spring and fall camp… I’m not sure the staff views Judd as the future. So do we think freshman Nickel or Coleman are going to be ready to lead us to the playoffs after watching more hyped inexperienced qbs struggle all last weekend?

Bailey allows Coleman to take over as a Soph or Nickel as a jr when they should be more developed and ready to lead.

Agreed. I’ve been very high on Dawsons time here except for some bland boring run concepts at time and the take of Anderson over Bailey.

Yeah I'm sure. I'm not getting into how recruiting works. But the main part of it is promises and relationships. Your word is pivotal. You're not promising them starting jobs. But you most definitely are promising them a chance to compete. You bring in a QB as a junior (who is gonna demand that he's handed the starting job to come here) that means your word ain't ****. Further more CJ bailey while he's developing well it's important to remember he's not showing this against top tier comp. Why would you burn the important relationships you've put years into developing in order to give a kid a job who still needs to develop more himself? Hard pass is how that works. This job is between Luke(1a)& Emory (1b)if he'll still be here. It's not relevant who likes that scenario. Just is what it is

I was curious if he knew that as well. I was cracking up buddy was trying to pick apart how Lincoln Riley was recruiting QBs after how many Heisman winners in a row. 🤣

I hear you but I would be surprised if they don’t portal a qb. No way they throw a season away because of a word. Winning is more important than a word you gave a kid when you recruited him

Now you just shifted the conversation though. I'd agree we portal a QB especially cause we're going to lose one if not two. But portaling in A QB is very different from saying we're going to promise a starting QB job to CJ bailey that is far from a gaurentee as a QB and needs to continue to substantially develop himself. CJ bailey being the same QB who didn't come here in the first place because he already tried a power move on us with his high school recruitment. He wanted promises and a nil valuation like he was a 5 star. Grabbing a QB out of the portal is almost a certainty. But we ain't gonna promise none of them a starting spot.
