Lofton isn’t a RB here so it is a knock. Lofton will not be carrying the ball come August 31. He will be used in different ways. Miami is going to get another RB in the portal.

Last spring he was used at running back as well, but that didn’t reflect how he was used during the season. I’d be surprised if, come summer, he’s considered a serious option at the running back position. Maybe he gets used in specific short yardage situations, but that’s not really a running back in my eyes. Time will tell once the portal opens up.

I mean, if he’s our best playmaker according to multiple observers, you want him getting touches. Could easily see him lined up at TE, motioned to HB and getting carries with Fletcher blocking (and the reverse) or other plays that make it super hard for defenses to get the Xs and Os right.we already know he has soft hands, so a blocking RB that provides a safety valve for Beck is also a great option.
 
Lofton is a good football player. CWH isn’t good enough to pass our starting TE/package short yard back. Both things can be true.

As for Lofton being a “Freak” “X-Factor”…he’s a big RB with soft hands. If he truly is the best football player on our team he would not be RB3 and competing with Bauman for TE1 snaps.

Last year, we had Martinez, Fletcher, Lyle and Ajay Allen. They all needed some carries.

We’ll see. The disconnect is that most people have never seen him run. He only had two carries in games (a short TD and a 30-yard fake punt). Hopefully we get an extended and healthy look in the spring game.
