Chris Herndon

Hernon, Olsen, Njoku, Swoope. That’s the best group of TE’s in the NFL & it ain’t close. If you’re a TE & don’t go to Miami you’re a fool. Point blank.
Graham. Iowa next after Miami as they have had George kittle who is a stud and just put 2 first rounders in the same draft class this year at tight end

Golden was a BEAST at finding Punters. But you do have to give that to him given the fiasco we have had the past two years. Hopefully the Aussie will fix that.
please he only got o'donnell cause he was a Cincinnati grad who had 1 year eligibility left and guy grew up a huge canes fan, a rat could a coached here and hed still have come

Truth. He was begging for a Miami offer out of highschool.

didnt Herndon catch a ball and take it to the house against VT? Herndon is more consistent than Njoku, give me consistency over big play waiting to happen
Yes short out that he housed. 40 plus yards. Also had a long one against UNC

Comparing rookie seasons (both with rookie QBs)

Same TDs
Same yards per reception
Same "longest reception"

Herndon caught 70% of his targets for ~200 more yards. Njoku caught 50% of his targets.

Herndon is also the better blocker.

But Njoku is CLEARLY better because he's more athletic.

Well, you went from saying CH should have played more OVER Njoku at UM, to now comparing rookie numbers in a League where, quite frankly, more traditional tight ends are prized.

David was simply more of a match up nightmare because he had the speed, height and could block....just not as well. College defenses never knew where to expect him...whereas Chris could simply beat people from exactly where they knew he was going to be, he just went about his business in a less electric manner without leaping over defenders or out striding them down the sidelines ....

Love em both....but don't ever forget your audience. Miami fans will always prefer speed over anything else.

The fact that we can even have this debate about just TWO of the MANY tight ends that we have scattered across the playin' on Sundays landscape says all you (and recruits) need to know about about this truly being TE-U no matter who da coach or corch.

Herndon seemed like a slam dunk pick for me prior to that Draft. I absolutely think Walford can still be real solid too in the right situation. With the stinkin' Browns being loaded at wideout now watch Njoku have a monster year this season (just hopefully not against my Steelers). The Browns o-line is still suspect and TE will be an easy target/confidence builder for Mayfield- especially if he does have experience any of that 2nd year dropoff that a lot of QBs do go through.

Actually, a rat did coach here and he came...
