Its not his coaching that worries me. Its getn rid of those players for far inferior players and worse fit. I dont know if thats a ego thing or what but its troubling. Is he going to embrace the south flrida recriting landscape or will it be nother Golden scenrio?

In that respect, Potato Chip seems to be the anti-Butch. Instead of recognizing talented players, he gets rid of them for the nebulous "team chemistry" excuse. In turn, they're replaced by players that he perceives will fit-in better, even if they have less talent. What does that say to the team, as a whole?

Sure, Chip has had plenty of past success. He came to the Eagles as a football god. That worked for awhile, but he's been exposed. Is he going to adapt, change, and improve? Or, is he going to be a stubborn jerk, like Fraulden? I hope Lurie keeps him for another season, so we can all find out. The Canes can't afford to be a proving ground for another apparent ego-maniacal personality.

Did you watch Saban with the Dolphins at all?

Jason Allen, Ronnie Brown, Dante Culpepper over Drew Brees ????

Jesus Christ, just stop the nonsense already. You like Butch better, not's ok, but no need to use asinine reasons to discredit Chip.

Chip has proven to be successful in College. His scheme is built for speed athletes.

I can't believe how ridiculous our fan base is. lol

No one is concerned with Chip's defenses?

I'm very concerned about it. And even more, I'm concerned about the defensive coaching staff he hires. Seriously? Bill Davis still has a job as the defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles? Shows poor decision making on Chip's part as it relates to defense. Don't get me wrong, I'd be all in on Chip if he were to be hired here but also won't give him a pass if he doesn't put a lot of focus and resources on the defense.

On average, Chip's defenses were ranked 23rd in yards per play, and averaged 36 sacks and 33 takeaways. And that's in an offensive conference with a relatively mediocre recruiting pool in Eugene, Oregon.

By comparison, here are Miami's numbers in those categories under Shannon and Golden, both defensive-minded coaches:

Shannon
YPP rank: 41, 42, 46, 21 (average of 38th)
sacks: 31, 30, 23, 37 (average of 30)
takeaways: 25, 15, 21, 28 (average of 22)

Golden
YPP rank: 63, 102, 82, 17, 100 (average of 73rd)
sacks: 23, 13, 29, 27, 21 (average of 23)
takeaways: 15, 22, 27, 23, 22 (average of 22)

And that's in a weak offensive conference with superior defensive recruits.

Chip Kelly would actually IMPROVE our defense while installing a top 5 offense.

Here's what Oregon did to the same Kansas St squad that made us look like a high school team:

Every candidate has risks as well as strengths and "opportunities"....

Chip Kelly brings zero risks. In four years in college he has four BCS bowl appearances and in his three years in the NFL he's had a ten win season twice. Name a coach with only one negative year in his whole career.

Chip started as defensive coach and played D himself. He'd have a fine D here. His biggest obstacle coming here would be the show cause he left Oregon with. UM needs to be comfortable giving the NCAA a big FU and at the same time further beef up its compliance because the NCAA would likely target us.

And that was over paying a shady "recruiting service" to get access to Texas players. Wouldn't be an issue for him at Miami.

There are plenty of shady recruiting services (street agents) in Miami. He'd need to resist that.

My goodness, Butch coaching again was once a wet dream but you guys have ruined it.

Lately I've read several prosts saying this same thing. That, somehow, Butch supporters have ruined your wet vaginas. WTF!!! Is this a Miami Hurricanes forum, or a "please don't hurt my feelings" safe area? Is this only about being on the winning side of the argument?

Most prosters exaggerate to make their point. It's expected in this anonymous internet ether. Consider that the volume of the argument is a reflection of the depth of Canes support.

So what if all the dumbass Potato Chip prosters pile on Butch. Chip exposes his incompetence on a weekly basis. Just watch as the Patriots shred him, next week. It'll hurt as an Eagles fan, but it's a sacrifice for the greater good.

If it hurts your feelings, don't read the following: BRING BACK BUTCH!

so Chip's incompetence is showing weekly? Then how did Butch look when his team went 5-11 followed by 3-8 before being fired? This is why you guys look ridiculous. You're pumping up a guy who did worse while being extra harsh on a guy experiencing his first losing season in the NFL.

I know, but he wouldn't need them in Miami. Street agents are chiefly for the non-local schools that are looking for any inside they can get.

Before Bruce Arians found his final job in football with the Steelers, he was the offensive coordinator of the division rival Browns.

Arians was on the wrong side of the January, 2003 Browns-Steelers playoff shootout (Tommy Maddox! Kelly Holcomb!) and made it clear Tuesday he’s not a fan of former Browns coach Butch Davis.

“Our head coach lost the game,” Arians said. “He called off the dogs on defense. You just don’t let Tommy Maddox sit there and go against a prevent defense. He basically fired [defensive coordinator] Foge Fazio at halftime. Foge was blitzing. We had them beat. They knew we had them beat.”

Arians says Davis took over the playcalling at halftime and insisted the team play his prevent defense.

“I don’t care what anyone says. I was on that sideline,” Arians said.

Bruce Arians is still ****ed at Butch Davis after all these years | ProFootballTalk

What is amazing is Chip Kelly found a way to require every player with speed not from the state of Florida. He would have no shot against 305 athletes without doing so. I can't believe they have players that run sub 5 flat in any other state but Florida.
