Charlie Strong

I can see him becoming a top DC. Think Lane Kiffin once he became Bama's OC

Will be a weird sell though as people will be told to ignore his beyond atrocious defenses at Texas. He has a better resume than Radio but a complete failure at your last stop as a head coach does tend to hurt your brand. I don't remember Monte's son's offenses being nearly as bad at SC.

I'm sure Strong will get another DC job.

Radio hasn't gotten another DC job because his job interview skills are almost certainly horrendous. How can a person who can't speak English give a good interview? His association with Shapiro doesn't help. Another thing possibly hurting Radio is that he was DC during the FIU brawl and thuggery/daily shootings at the end of Coker's tenure.

Strong does not have the same problems since he can speak the English language, was not associated with a booster scandal and was not the DC during a massive brawl.

I know he hasn't won at Texas, but is 3 years enough to considere his tenure a failure? What do these boosters/fans expect?

The success Nick Saben has had at Alabama has made a lot of people (especially in the SEC and Texas overall) delusional. It usually takes more than 3 years to build a program.

Having said that, I don't have much of an opinion on Charlie Strong's coaching abilities.

I don't think expecting at least one winning season out of the first three is unreasonable, especially in that conference. Strong couldn't even manage that.

This black/white racist stuff is completely out of control. In Strong's defense Mack Brown became a disaster, Manny Diaz was a disaster and so was Searles a disaster in Austin. Maybe their expectations don't match their talent? I think Strong could do better at a different school. Personally I think he should have stayed at Louisville the man can recruit.

But how are his Xs and Os? Is he a good gameday coach or corch?

Couldn't the same be said for Golden

You're right, it's not unreasonable at all. Especially with the resources they have. However, I feel that an 8-4, or a 7-5 season would have still cost him his job this year. I don't believe Texas would have been happy either way with 2 out of 3 winning season if that was their record.

I don't think the fan base gave him much chance from the start

I think the fan base would have been fine with an 8 win season. It's the power boosters that reportedly did not want him from the start.

Not sure how soon he gets a DC gig. When you have a defensive pedigree and your team consistently fields bad defenses, it's hard to believe he gets a spot right away at a big program. He may need to go to a lower rung program as DC and rebuild his resume.

Except that Golden is literally the worst corch in the world. And we knew that since he first stepped on campus with that stupid tie on. Him and Muschamp are neck and neck.

Charlie strong on the other hand came off of 12-1 and 11-2 seasons a Louisville winning both bowl games. One against the Gaytors and one against Golden himself.

Thinking back on it now, I'm glad his bytch *** is getting fired. Hate it when coaches leave teams high and dry the way he left Louisville. Although Louisville seems to be doing ok without him.

His stock was at an all time high when he left Louisville, can't blame the guy for getting a payday. It would've been interesting to see if he could have kept the momentum going there without Bridgewater and getting into a stronger conference. I doubt he would've be much better off staying put.

Three years was long enough to determine Strong was not the right HC for Texas. He lost to Kansas in his 35th game as UT's HC. He should have been fired at the end of his second season.

in strong's defense his cupboard was very bare worse then what richt got from golden, they had 0 guys drafted in the last 3 yrs I believe, his team is full of sophomore and freshman players and in h is time there he has had to fight the boosters, there ad is new and is a former lawyer with 0 experience as ad, the president is an engineer,

the school right now is in turmoil due to the bad hiring of Patterson as ad , his ouster hasn't hurt Charlie but Charlie does have a very young team and sometimes young teams lose games they shouldn't that's just fact,

I think in a yr 4 he would win 9 games but he won't get that 4th year funny thing is texas may end up in the careful what u wish for category as the guys in charge now have 0 history with athletics and hiring coaches, so if they fire strong they might not be smart enough to get herman god knows what play b is. and john gruden a guy never coached in college is a bad choice.

Wasn't Brown always considered a world class recruiter? Even if Brown had done a bad job coaching the talent his last few years I can't imagine the talent he left for Strong was that bad.

He left Texas loaded. Strong has a great eye for talent. He will do better at his next stop.

Hopefully he doesn't end up at FSU as a DC

Time for Charlie to rebuild his brand methodically; He can keep his family's lifestyle with that generous severance package and start afresh as a defensive position coach with a veteran HC who is not threatened by his presence.

What an upgrade over Ephraim Banda he would be...

Charlie definitely needs to make his way back to the southeast. That's where his success has been.

The guy is a fraud and a terrible football coach. All he is good for is recruiting.
