Charlie Strong

Pains me to say it but smacking around an Al Golden coached Miami team sans both Duke Johnson and Phillip Dorsett is hardly something to highlight on your resume.

How about his resume over the last 2 years? Why dismiss the now?

Because he only posted a clip from one particular game during the Strong-Louisville Era so I was referring exclusively to that.

If he had posted a game from the Strong-Texas Era, I would've addressed that instead.

I don't think Strong would be as bad a hire as everyone seems to think.

I don't think he's as bad as his record at Texas, but I also don't think he's as good as his best year at Louisville either. Stats and records can lie whether they're good or bad.

On that note, I'd still make Chip Kelly and Tom Herman tell me to go **** myself before I'd even line Strong up for an interview.

Not "as bad a hire as everyone seems to think"? If that's what you think of Strong then you should never recommend lining him up for an interview. That "endorsement" amounts to him being a mediocre coach, certainly not a great one.

I just meant in general. I meant he is not my first choice, but if the administration isn't going to go after the Herman's and Fuente's that are available, I'd take Strong over the Mario's, Chud's, etc.

I'm still wondering how a moron can look at what ******* has done at Texas and be eager to hire him here. He MIGHT wind up turning it around at Texas. MIGHT. But all signs point toward him being a **** HC who is completely overwhelmed by the job.

Why would you want to take that chance after he's proven that he's not an elite HC? No elite HC dies the miserable death he's died at Texas. They at least show some signs of life in year 2. In fact, research will tell you that an elite HC at a marquee program will start winning big in year 2 no matter how seemingly bad the situation was that he took over.

Why are UM fans looking on trash heaps for the next HC hoping against hope that his humiliatingly inept performance on the big stage was due to some nebulous "fit" issue?

The best you could hope for with ******* is that he's a grinder who might build a decent program after 4 years if he lucks into a transcendent QB. Why not aim higher than that?

That Texas job has swallowed him whole. You have had the benefit of seeing what he's done on the big stage. He got his shot at the big time, and he's face down in the bottom of the pool.

Well said! It is mind-boggling that people excuse the horrific job he is doing because of some supposed "fit" there. ****, he got shut out by Iowa State--is that a "fit" issue? Oh, and by the way, his current recruiting class is ranked #55--is that a "fit" issue too? And how hard is it to "fit" at a school with unlimited resources, $$$, and local high school talent?

Biggest win of his tenure at Texas. I watched the game and seem to recall the announcers being able to call out run or pass for Oklahoma based on a tell that the RT had but a win is a win and Oklahoma has played the best in the Big 12, maybe the country, in recent weeks.

That being said, the luster of this win has kind of diminished with losing to both Iowa State and West Virginia back-to-back.

This video is outstanding. I'd almost trade a clip of Alfredo sauce having to say this over his post-Clemson alma mater "singing".

Definition of a beaten man in that video, Taddy. Looked like Folden when Dabo was crushing his premature baby-sized hand after that fateful rape last year.

Yep.....minus the pasta sweats. Say what you will about Ol' Chucky (and I've said a lot) but at least he had a moment of honesty here. All we ever got from Alfredo was a big pile of goo melting on the field post Dabo's public sodomization. That said, Texas should've done everyone a favor (Strong included) and canned his *** after last year.

Man, that's painful to watch.

Yep. Was kinda interesting where he started out ready to give the standard coachspeak about his future and the last bit of fight or hope in the guy just disappears before your eyes in a moment of pure resignation.

Folden disappeared like a fart in a cyclone after Dabo face fcked him unconscious. Chaz looked like he just watched his wife get gang banged by a Zulu tribe.

Watching that video, I actually felt bad for Strong. He knows he's gone, and asked publicly to admit it. Tough spot to be in.

He had to make at least $15 million at UT plus a buyout. I don't feel his pain.

Yeah, he won't hurt financially.

Yea, but I guarantee you he isn't going to get fired then say "Texas took too much of my life" or that he's burned out

Agreed. At least Strong has more character and balls then Golden. Golden would blame anything under the sun (or moon for those night games) for his problems.

Feel bad for Strong in the sense he wanted to succeed in the next step of his career and he failed abysmally. But at least he won't be broke.

He will go somewhere like NC State and do a good job.

Texas is a weird job. If not for one year of Vince Young, they would've been choking dogs my entire lifetime.
