Charlie Strong

Black head coach that has actually won a BCS bowl game gets hated on this site bc he doesn't have Texas back to playing like the Vince Young era in year two.

While white night Golden I'm sure OP was defending him up until his 4th season.

/ hmmmm

Dumbest post of the year. No, make that the decade! On and one more thing! Strong sucks!!!! He is terrible just like that **** Golden.

Pains me to say it but smacking around an Al Golden coached Miami team sans both Duke Johnson and Phillip Dorsett is hardly something to highlight on your resume.

How about his resume over the last 2 years? Why dismiss the now?

Because he only posted a clip from one particular game during the Strong-Louisville Era so I was referring exclusively to that.

If he had posted a game from the Strong-Texas Era, I would've addressed that instead.

Bad fit....blah blah blah....deserves more time....blah blah blah.... is rebuilding....blah blah blah....

Strong has like the 55th rated 2016 recruiting class. So is the argument that he just needs more time at Texas or is it that he's just a bad fit there?

He walked into a bad situation. The fan base is koo koo for coco puffs and the national perception of that program is way higher than the actual product itself. I am not saying he is the greatest coach in the world, but I would judge him more off what he did at Louisville than his current gig.

This "bad situation" excuse should only disqualify him faster. Ohhhh, the fan expectations! Ohhh, the boosters demand I field a respectable product after they give me unlimited resources! Ohhh, the pressure is just too great in Austin!!

Sounds like a great fit for here, huh? We not only provide the high fan expectations but we'll give him limited resources too!!!! But he can croot South Florida. I'm sold.

If you can't win at Texas, you can't win at Miami.

This. Says it all in a nutshell.

I just can't conceive why anyone wants Strong, or why he is even under remote consideration, considering what is happening at Texas.

Stupidity, that is why.

Strong hasn't shown anything at Texas that merits him being a good candidate here. He should at least be able to win 8 games there. Instead, he won't even go to a bowl game.

These "bad fit" morons should be fitted for hockey helmets.

Now, there are guys in here imploring us to ignore what ******* has done most recently at a P5 job and, instead, only focus on his last two seasons in a G5 conference. And we're also not supposed to pay attention to his losses against inferior talent at Louisville and the fact he beat 1 top 25 team.

Anything else we should ignore?

Didn't he also lose to Mario?

He is 55 years old. Probably ignore the fact that he hit his ceiling already.

Oh my....

Two things Strong had going for him at UL was Teddy Bridgewater and Hurtt Clitt as recruiting coordinator.
Neither of them followed him to Texas, and you definitely won't see them at UM if he were to be the next
coach.

Great DC though.

I would avoid him.

I know people keep saying he walked into a bad situation, and maybe so, but recordwise it wasn't worse than Louisville.

10-3, 12-1, 13-1, 5-7, 8-5, 9-4, 8-5 in Mack's last 7 years
9-4, 11-1, 9-3, 12-1, 6-6, 5-7, 4-8 in the 7 Petrino/Kragthorpe years

I am not saying he should be our top choice. But you can't really compare Louisville and Texas. Louisville played in a crappier conference when he got there. When Mack stepped down he was on the verge of getting fired .... with unlimited resources. The Big 12 was in the process of getting much better and Texas was lagging behind. I look at what Strong did at Louisville as proof the guy can coach. He took 3 star guys that nobody else wanted and taught them to beat big boy programs. And before anyone says "well Texas has big boy talent and he can't win" .... ask yourself .... do they REALLY??? To me, they are just like USC and Notre Dame. A LOT of the guys that go there and commit there are rated higher than their talent level simply because they committed to Texas. Arkansas has unlimited resources and they suck ... money isn't everything.

Huh? He beat 1 top 25 team in his last 2 years at UL, he also lost to Syracuse, UConn, UCF in those 2 years.

The excuses for Strong are amazing.

Thank God we didn't have to play the UCF team that year...We would've been dismantled!

I agree. Strong would be an atrocious hire.

Strong would have been lucky to win 8 games a year if Louisville was in the ACC during his tenure.

I'm still wondering how a moron can look at what ******* has done at Texas and be eager to hire him here. He MIGHT wind up turning it around at Texas. MIGHT. But all signs point toward him being a **** HC who is completely overwhelmed by the job.

Why would you want to take that chance after he's proven that he's not an elite HC? No elite HC dies the miserable death he's died at Texas. They at least show some signs of life in year 2. In fact, research will tell you that an elite HC at a marquee program will start winning big in year 2 no matter how seemingly bad the situation was that he took over.

Why are UM fans looking on trash heaps for the next HC hoping against hope that his humiliatingly inept performance on the big stage was due to some nebulous "fit" issue?

The best you could hope for with ******* is that he's a grinder who might build a decent program after 4 years if he lucks into a transcendent QB. Why not aim higher than that?

That Texas job has swallowed him whole. You have had the benefit of seeing what he's done on the big stage. He got his shot at the big time, and he's face down in the bottom of the pool.
