Championship caliber teams through week 5

Us and OSU look similar - even in how the teams are built. Need to see Oregon/Penn st Tonight. Then everyone else.

Thats not to say we couldn't lose to UGA, TAMU, Olemiss etc. in that second tier if we didn't play a good game. But i think we've be favorited in against any of that tier.

Taint is the best team I’ve seen not named Miami. Elite defense and loaded roster, Sayin the only ?

The ducks are very legit. Speed everywhere and Moore is the goods.

UGAs offensive coaching stinks and their secondary is poor. Good team but won’t win it.

Bama looks way better than they did week 1 but they can’t run the ball well enough to win it IMO.

Penn State LOL

LSUs offense is awful

Indiana doesn’t have the full roster to do it.

OU looks really good let’s see if they can survive without Mateer for a few weeks.

At this point, I’d be surprised if Miami, Taint, Oregon, or OU don’t win it.

Honorable mention if **** gets weird to Texas Tech and A&M, they’ll both be tough outs.

FWIW, here are the current odds on DK:

Taint +500
Oregon +550
Bama +750
Texas +800 (arch isn’t winning a natty)
Penn State +800 (Allar isn’t winning a natty)
UGA +900
Miami +1100

Everyone else is 20/1 or worse. Ole Miss +2000, OU +2000, LSU +2200, A&M +2500, ND +2500

Also, Miami is currently even money to win the ACC. +100. Crazy and I expect that to be -150ish if we win on Saturday. We’ll be a double digit favorite in every game for the rest of the season if we win, except maybe Louisville and SMU, but I expect Louisville to be about -10 and SMU to be at least -8.

Good take, love looking at better markets. Not perfect but best to see where people are putting their money. Think Texas is still preseason $$$ from arch hype. I don’t think we haven enough on offense unless we get A+ from Lyle and trader. Even then idk. Receivers are very average as a unit. 0% buying some of the CIS propaganda

I don’t think the offense we’ve seen thus far can actually win a natty. But I my optimism is that (I think) every team ahead of us in the odds, their QB had a spring and summer. Ours did not. So while I agree with you on Lyle and trader for sure, to me an even bigger piece of it is Beck continuing to get reps. If we actually do win it, or get very close, I’m banking on our passing game to be much improved from what we’ve seen the first month because Beck gets better and better as we go along. I do share your sentiment on the receiver group though. Tough to convince me we actually cut down the nets with a barely 18 year old slot WR as our best and most dynamic pass catcher. We’ll see. Just smack fsu, and we get another bye to continue to improve.

I agree that right now there’s us, Ohio State and Oregon in no particular order. After that there’s a mishmash of unproven teams and teams with significant flaws. I don’t trust a single offense in the SEC outside of maybe Tennessee and they’re in a shootout every week. Georgia Tech will absolutely drop one and likely two games to weak ACC teams because they’re built for upsets and don’t know what to do when they’re actually the more talented team. It’s wild that so many teams could potentially win and nobody looks absolutely unstoppable. Thank you, NIL and transfer portal.

Agree on your Lyly/trader comment. I think it’s reasonable to expect Lyly to eventually hit his stride this year assuming he stays healthy. I’m not sure I see it with trader - the guy has either been injured or in the doghouse his whole time here it seems.

As for other teams, very small number of teams can have all really good all phases of the game - good OL play, ability to run, competent passer, stout defense with very good DL. Oregon, OSU (and possibly uga/bama) have those things and I’d even say Miami does as well.

The only facet that Miami does not have is deep play threat. Still, that leaves Miami in some good company.

The three most complete teams I’ve seen are Miami, Ohio State and Oregon.

They can pass, run, protect, stop the run, rush the passer and play man coverage.

LSU can’t run. Alabama has struggled to stop the run. Georgia lacks difference makers. Texas is having trouble protecting and throwing. I’m not sure Ole Miss, Oklahoma or Texas A&M have enough talent.

I haven't see a single team who's balanced in both sides of the ball the way we are.
The only issue we have is speed from our skill players which includes our backs.

Considering all the CFB weekend action I got:

1. OSU
2. Oregon
3. Miami
4. Ole Miss
5. A&M
6. Okie
7. Tenn
8. Bama
9. IU/TTU/ND

OSU and Oregon had big wins on the road. They should be ahead of us. If we impress in Doak I'd move us past Oregon. I'll rank OSU #1 till they lose, but if they don't start trusting Sayin more and stretching the field vertically doubt they will repeat. Ole Miss impressed the **** out of me. Lane's best team there. Chambliss played great, and if he keeps getting better they are a dangerous team with Golding helming a pretty stout defense. Against LSU, they managed to score 3 TDs on drives that they got holding called on them on outside runs, which probably isn't going to happen regularly. Impressive, nonetheless. They will have to clean up their blocking or just call fewer outside runs. Okie being ranked so high is predicated on them continuing to run Mateer when he returns. If they don't, they aren't nearly as impressive of a team. Very good defense that should force a lot of turnovers because they get so much pressure on the QB, especially from their interior DL.

I think we have the chance to improve a lot as the season goes on. Hopefully that happens for a change.

I’m torn on OU. With mateer, they are pretty formidable - their defense appears legit. Only issue with mateer is that he is their entire offense. Not sure they have a dynamic offense of it. If they did, they’d be #4 for me.

Add Vandy to the list, unlikely but they play hard af. A&M probably in the convo. ND gets better as the year goes on. They put up 42 in the first half.

I think they have enough receiving weapons with Sategna/Burks/Kanak to be explosive in the passing game. They obviously need at least one of their RBs to step up and play a lot better.

What happened to that cal running back? Ott?

I haven’t seen him play in a single game unless I missed him getting snaps
