Chad and Grace comments

I can understand Chad Thomas response. I too thought of him as a new Danny Stubbs and that has not happened. What concerns me is the Grace comment about the D being too complicated. Kid will wish he never said those comments when he is being asked about them next year for scouts. Is he dumb? Does he not like to prepare? In the NFL you have to learn different parts of a defense every week. Every week you are changing and getting more complicated on the defensive side. As a scout I would be all over that.

^ I would agree omaha but the one thing I'd say in Grace's defense is in the NFL he will have endless time to study and prepare compared to college. They have classes and a set number of hours coaches can be with them as well. A complicated defense like what Al and his butt buddy were running isn't ideal for college and it showed

Wouldn't surprise me to see a LOT of freelancing in the bowl game. The players have open contempt for the DC and his approach and know this is the last time they'll play for him.

I think the Team should revolt against him and show him how successful defense should be played at this level. Guarantee you we will give up <10 points. I still have nightmares about Dorito's & Al's defensive philosophies.

He won't regret it. He's correct. Our D is inappropriate for what is prescribed at the college level. It doesn't mean he won't be able to handle more complexity in the NFL.

The NFL is a professional job. He won't have to go to any classes, show up for the study hall requirement, and can basically devote all of his time to football. As a scout, I think your interpretation would be out of context. You'd miss out on a potentially valuable player because you wanted him to either express appreciation for or remain silent on his duties of completing whole calculus word problems before being able to make a tackle within our defense.

The irony of this statement is that, despite all of our insane complexity in reads and responsibilities, we have the worst disguises I've seen all year in the NCAA football. I've seen HS teams that disguise better than we have. In fact, opponents literally dictate our defensive personnel packages and alignments based on formation.

You are correct and this has been beaten to death on this board over the last 4 years. Worst and this isn't hyperbole, the worst defensive scheme I've ever seen at the college level. Wasted talent and drop in draft position every year.

A football defensive game plan has to be tailored to its players. I by no means call our defensive scheme for the past 5 years complex. I call it downright stupid. My point---2 gap DL play, no DL rush, No blitzing, CBs 10 yards off receivers, LBs 10 yards off line, not properly utilizing players skills, etc., etc., etc. This has been by far the worst CFB defense I've watched over the past 40 years. It's been downright **** painfull! Did anyone do any research on folden before he was hired??

im sure it would be much easier to learn when he is not In school all day? How did NO D work out for us? Yeah is sucked these kids want 4/3 attacking style D not sit back playing prevent all game.

I wasn't trying to say we did a good job at it. Good and bad college defenses still have assignments that are far more complex than high school football. The failure is on the coaches for not being good enough teachers to teach their players how to run the defense and for having such a ****** defense to being with.
