CFP moving to 24 teams

There’s a difference between value and ratings. Of course we’re still going to watch it and watch regular season games. Is anyone going to watch more regular season games than before? Prob not. But we’ll tune in for the stupid first round of the playoff, especially for whatever winner gets to play Miami. Ratings will be high because you’ll have 3 fan bases with interest in each game + casual viewers.

The value of the regular season is gone. The value of making the playoff is gone (no one is going to give a **** if a fanbase brags about making the playoff). Top 10 matchups will be in primetime but will lose luster (ppl will still watch, any ratings decline will be minimal).

Yall willing to trade the urgency and gravity of our game vs ND and replacing it so Minnesota vs Northwestern or Arizona vs Colorado to decide the 24th seed can be propped up? Couldn’t be me. We have a pro sports fanbase and it shows. College football is the best sport on earth because every week feels like do or die. Now if you come in rated top 15-20, you are basically a lock to make the tournament unless you go 7-5. Trying to make CFB the NFL is a catastrophe.

For everyone complaining about the 24 team playoff, saying it's "ruining" the sport and will make the regular season meaningless, you're still going to watch so STFU. I'm all for a 24 team playoff. People complained about the 12 team playoff, but had it not been in place, Miami would not have gotten in and made it all the way to the title game last season. If an 8-4 team gets in, goes all the way and wins it, then they deserved it.
I said the same thing. They know they will be tuned in!

Help me with the math that's worth ruining the greatest sport.

Are the conf championships eliminated? Are G6 not going to play championship games so IA and KY can play a meaningless game to see who loses to GA or OSU again. Or is Boise going to decline and they replace Boise in the championship game so Boise can lose to a P4 in the playoffs?

Currently 11 playoff games where no one is watching the crappy 1st round OR/JM games. Plus 4 huge popular $$$ P4 championship games. Plus 6 G6 games.

Replaced with 23 playoff games with a bunch of 4 loss teams? There is no way a bunch 3-4 loss 1st round games generates more than the 2 best teams in the P4 playing conference championship games.

16 is the way to go with the conference championships determining the final four.

It’s surprising that some people remember their names or family members half the time with stuff they say. College basketball expanded to 64 teams in 1985. Mfs saying they stopped watching the tournament game because a few play-in games? Lmfao:pgdead::roll-canes2:

Bruce should be embarrassed to post this

His comment about Alabama and Georgia aside, at least the national guys are finally calling out this kind of stuff...
And the ND athletic director is involved in the decision making process on the playoff revision

Format has not been announced but trending towards eliminating conference title games

Good point about G6 ones though

If top rated G6 gets a spot, can't see them playing title game and then 1st round playoff game

I don’t really understand the downside of this especially in the NIL era?
Our ‘24 team would have been in even if our defense sucked ***. You have more leeway in the regular season to actually schedule some fun big matchups.
The bracket would most certainly create some entertaining games and matchups.
Does this hurt our chances of making it or increase it on a yearly basis?
What is the downside? Does this make it harder or impossible to get into the Big 10 or SeC?
Trying to figure out why so many people are against it.
The downside is big regular season matchups become meaningless....so they say
