CFP Committee Chair

Yurachek is the star of a TV show that is interrupting Cabinet meetings. This is a great angle.
Why does he care tho? He’s not being held accountable for any of it. Only thing he’s been told is to protect the SEC at all costs. No1 else matters.

All this noise in the national media and political brass has done nothing.

This is being lost on most people. The people on our side of this aren't random twitter posters or youtubers with a small following. They are the biggest, most influential names in the sport and some pretty **** powerful people.

I know we're all used to being screwed, but this is a different situation. Its not crazy to think the committee can, and already has been, influenced by the pressure campaign they're facing.

I'm firmly in the mope crowd, but if BYU loses I think we're getting in.

if byu loses close they'll keep byu ahead of miami to protect ND

if bama loses, they'll jump ND over bama to protect ND

Miami's ONLY shot is bama win and convincing BYU loss

I think people are trying to be as pessimistic as possible because Miami was behind ND in the weekly BCS rankings to this point . But as @Cribby said, committee was fully expecting Miami to suffer its annual November collapse. It didn’t happen. Committee was trying to avoid H2H comparison because they know that puts Miami in and kicks ND out, but they also know that ignoring H2H for teams that are back to back in the rankings and have the same record would make a mockery of the sport.

Wolken from Yahoo Sports is correct- they had no reason to drop Notre Dame but they did it to set up the situation where Miami jumps ND if BYU loses.

I think they realized they have to put Miami in over ND or else they will start a chain reaction of teams canceling OOC games in the future. As many on the is board (and in national media) have said- there will be absolutely no point in ever scheduling ND, Bama, or any of the blue bloods if a H2H win is irrelevant at the end of the season.

I am actually ok with today’s ranking. I honestly thought we would get dropped to 13-14 and possibly jumped by Vandy and/or Texas. We didn’t get jumped so I am pleasantly surprised.

How has the pressure campaign influenced them. Out of us, Bama, ND and BYU we were the only team to go on the road and play a ranked opponent. We won by 31 points and we stayed put. Bama moved up (we all know why to protect them and the SEC) and then they moved ND down and we still didn’t jump them. Now it’s “we have to be next to them”. Which is another made up criteria. Bama loses and they will put them at 10 and ND back to 9 to not have that discussion, again. We need bama to win and BYU to lose by a lot.

If they wanted us in - we’d would have went ahead of ND tonight. There’s no flip coming.
Us not even moving one spot over BYU with a convincing win on the road kinda ices it for me… they wrote us off after SMU no matter what we did. We’re just annoying them how we went 4-0 with double digit dominating wins

I don’t quite understand all the permutations.

But way I see it- if BYU loses Miami it moves to the 11 spot. If Bama wins, UGA isn’t dropping 7 spots to jump between Miami and ND. If Bama loses a close game, committee could just leave them where they are at and Miami still gets compared to ND H2H. Probably better if Bama wins but I think BYU is more important.
Yep best case scenario = Bama wins and BYU gets blasted I believe we’re in.

2nd best (for me)Bama wins BYU wins n we BOTH get left out **** ND.

If they both lose it gets real dicey for us depending on if Bama drops a spot

“It’s easier to use the head-to-head win as a data point if the teams are back to back in the rankings.”

Yurachek knows what happens if Miami and ND are back to back in the bcs rankings and he doesn’t put Miami in based on H2H. No non-blue blood school will schedule ND, Bama, etc ever again. You know the HCs of the non blue bloods are going to tell the ADs- “You are out of your f#cking mind if you think we are going to play a team where winning doesn’t help us and losing basically kicks us out of playoff contention.”

yeah but that's only part of the equation, although we have no path if BYU wins.

Assuming BYU loses....The Bama game will still be a factor. If Bama wins, they'll stay in the CFP (obviously) and the final spot will come down to Miami and ND, thus (hopefully) using the H2H clause to get us in. If Bama gets blown out (won't happen), then they might drop out of the top 10 entirely and last two at large spots will be ND and Miami. If Georgia wins a close one (or within 1-2 scores), then Bama might drop 1 spot (which would be bad for us because that would put them in between us and ND. We'll get shut out of the CFP if that happens.

So, we are all Bama and BYU fans this weekend.
IF BYU wins, is ND out?

👀

Then why didnt they flip us and ND tonight then?!!

One HUGE thing that hasn't been mentioned (maybe it has, we have 30 threads on this topic), is Navy not being ranked.

Now ND has one less ranked win on their resume

Additionally Boise St losing will also dent their strength of scheduling narrowing the gap further.

Fam, we are getting in if Bama wins and BYU loses 100%

There no accountability for any decisions they make. So there is no need to follow any guidelines or criteria.
Until a fan, or gambler, takes matters into their own hands because they feel cheated and a real (or imagined) sense of loss.

I fear that day is approaching with a referree or these committee members if faith isn't restored back into the system.

Don't underestimate poor decision making + "I'm not going to let them get away with doing this to me".

Or Trumpycane thinks they won’t punish Bama for losing because they actually played a conference championship and MD didn’t

We need BYU to lose at 12
