CBS Analysts Pick Indiana Blowout: "This is 2019 LSU"

A pair of CBS Sports analysts are betting heavy against the Canes.

Former Ohio State running back Beanie Wells and former James Madison quarterback Ben DiNucci recently provided their analysis and predictions for the Championship Game.

Ben DiNucci: “I’m watching the Miami front seven versus Indiana’s offense. Indiana has scored 50 points seven different times this year. If you can’t pressure Fernando Mendoza, speed up his process, and force third-and-long, it’s going to be a long night. Bain and Mesidor have 19 sacks between them. They struggled to pressure Chambliss against Ole Miss. They have to speed Mendoza up.”

Beanie Wells: “On the flip side, I’m watching Indiana’s front seven against Miami’s run game. Miami has rushed for 175, 153, and 191 yards the last three weeks. Mark Fletcher Jr. has been dominant. Can Rolijah Hardy and Aiden Fisher slow that down? Because if Miami can’t run the football, they don’t win this game. That run game is the catalyst. It starts with Fletcher’s legs.”

Studio Host: “Miami leads the nation in sack differential at plus-28. Indiana leads the nation in turnover differential at plus-21. That will matter. Hard Rock Stadium holds more than 65,000 fans and tickets are expensive. Beanie, how many Miami fans do you think will be there?”

Beanie Wells: “That’s a good question. We’ve seen Miami have home games that are half full. This is their first national championship in 25 years. You’d think they’d show up, but Indiana fans traveled well to Atlanta. It might be a lot of red in that building.”

Ben DiNucci: “You’ve got to pack the house. I know it’s not easy for students to get from campus to Miami Gardens, but don’t make excuses. You’re a great football team. Get to the games.”

Studio Host: “Indiana is a 7.5-point favorite. Beanie, who do you have?”

Beanie Wells: “Indiana. They’re the best team in the country. They’re disciplined and battle-tested. I’m taking Indiana.”

Ben DiNucci: “Indiana, plain and simple. They’ve been the best team from week one. They have the Heisman winner, the coach of the year, and they play complementary football. This is 2019 LSU. They’re steamrolling people. I’ve got Indiana.”

Studio Host: “Score prediction?”

Beanie Wells: “I’m going 35-10 Indiana.”

Ben DiNucci: “I’ll say 34-17 Indiana.”
Just B10 puffery. DiNucci is obviously tied to Indiana through the JMU connection.

They weren’t a championship defense. Outside the Top 20 in most categories. The offense was special and carried them.

Their best defensive player was a freshman Derek Stingley, who would’ve been playing special teams on the 2001 Canes.
Ponds would have started for LSU. Maybe Dailey who is out with an ACL. Zero chance Sharpe. Louis Moore likely. Linebackers- I'd assume one of the three would start.

This is also not LSU or Indiana vs 2001.

Scott Van Pelt acting like he just witnessed the return of Christ on the field in Atlanta was ridiculous. He didn’t want to say it outright but basically alluded to Miami having no chance.

That's a lot of pros from not a championship defense that won a championship.

Held Georgia 20 points less than season average in the SECCG. OU two scores below season average in the first round. Clemson 20 points less than their season average in the championship game.

All when it mattered.

I get the point you're making, but thats a lot of pros and pretty great performances when it mattered. They had 3 future NFL Hall of Famers on offense, numerous starters in the NFL on the OL, and the offense is one of the greatest of all time...the defense was good with way too many pros to discount. Held Jalen Hurts to his worst game at OU. Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne had two low end performances. Held James Cook and DAndre Swift to 36 yards rushing and George Pickens was the 4th best WR in the game.

This is a comparison to Indiana...that LSU team was loaded.

It is insane
The recency bias is alive and well
These dopes just watched OSU play a 13-10 game vs Indiana 3 weeks ago
Then
These doors watched us dismantle OSU after everyone said OSU defense was HISTORICALLY Good!
Thirdly, ole Miss had extremely mobile QB w quick passing game - this neutralized our pressure

Indiana offense is not like ole Miss, our DLine will be a factor

But please dip**** Ben and all the analysts
Keep glazing cig and Indiana
Please keep it up!!!!
You going to act like Ohio State didnt have a month off, we really didnt play Ohio State, we played a shadow of Ohio State. Teams off the bye are 1-7 it is obviously having a tremendous impact on their performance...Indiana played a completely different Ohio State team. Just saying, you cant compare those two victories, Indiana played a completely different team. I wouldnt even say Ohio State was warm in the 2nd half and they dominated us, if it werent for a completely bogus holding call, the dude slipped and fell down, they would have won.

Imagine telling the nastiest toughest team in the country that they have no chance to win

This is going to be ******* glorious
Miami fans are remedying that on every comment section we are letting everyone know we are going to blow out indiana and they dont have enough talent to be on the same field

Lmao
Keep thinking that👍
Miami is gonna punch Indiana in the f ing mouth
The spread in this game is comedy
It’s recency bias as Indiana beat
Up a lifeless crappy Alabama team and a soft Oregon team
Miami was in dogfight w ole moss
Even though they dominated the game

Enjoy the reality

But I was told Smith and Tate were nursing injuries when they played Indiana and they would boat race Miami because those 2 got to rest and heal up. Funny how the narrative keeps changing.

Never heard of either one of those prostate pounders
DiNucci has a video (I think it's pinned on his Twitter feed) where he goes to a Flag Football evening in Denver (I think - when he was on the Broncos).

He plays with them all and wins, obviously, but they're all shocked when he reveals that he's a current NFL QB i.e. he wasn't leagues above them - like when Goff did it for Redbull for a D2 school and they all straight way thought "**** me, who's this guy?!"

Ponds is 5'9" and gets Moss'd be bigger WRs.

He's good, but he wouldn't start.
