Miami Hurricanes four-star cornerback commit Kenton Dopson is moving up a grade, officially reclassifying from the 2027 class to 2026.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback from Miami Norland (Miami, FL) originally committed to the Hurricanes back in March. Dopson was one of the top overall prospects in the 2027 cycle, ranked as a top-100 player nationally and the No. 9 cornerback in his class.

As a sophomore at Norland, Dopson totaled three interceptions and 16 tackles, earning MaxPreps All-American honors for his standout play.

Dopson’s recruitment has drawn major national attention, holding more than 30 scholarship offers from schools around the country. His offer list includes Miami, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn, Penn State, North Carolina, and South Carolina, among many others.

Now set to join the 2026 class, Dopson’s move up gives Miami an elite defensive back a year earlier than expected.

The dude who committed to UM to honor his late Mom and flipped over money? I wanna say kick rocks, but if he nice we def need him with our secondary issues.

Cant fault the kid if the $ was that different, which it sounds like it was.

True but we're not going to panter to a family member coming on here talking moral victories.
If things change, we'll let bygones be bygones but until then, enjoy the baked beans bowl and moral victories

I think we should behave professionally but the days of us groveling over players like this are done. If he wants to transfer, I’m sure we’d be willing to listen. If not, there will be a dozen more just like him in line.

My thoughts , he’s good
