4-Star Miami CB Commit Kenton Dopson Reclassifies to the 2026 Class

Miami Hurricanes four-star cornerback commit Kenton Dopson is moving up a grade, officially reclassifying from the 2027 class to 2026.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback from Miami Norland (Miami, FL) originally committed to the Hurricanes back in March. Dopson was one of the top overall prospects in the 2027 cycle, ranked as a top-100 player nationally and the No. 9 cornerback in his class.

As a sophomore at Norland, Dopson totaled three interceptions and 16 tackles, earning MaxPreps All-American honors for his standout play.

Dopson’s recruitment has drawn major national attention, holding more than 30 scholarship offers from schools around the country. His offer list includes Miami, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn, Penn State, North Carolina, and South Carolina, among many others.

Now set to join the 2026 class, Dopson’s move up gives Miami an elite defensive back a year earlier than expected.

Maaaaannnn...kid did what a lot of people would do with a regular job. If they paid better then I'm gone...especially if it was much more. Gotta take the Cane shades off and be honest with yourselves. He didn't **** on the university either...he moved on. If he gets to come home and he balls then bring him home

Well I read that as aggressive lol my bad pops, listen I am always going to defend the U it is what it is. I figured it was a family member, I still dont understand why he did not come to UM. Thats for us to never know and for them to know.

This is true but at the same time it depends, if you confident asf and know you one of them ones then go to your dream place if the money is pretty close. Its tough but when Miamis trend is just UP UP UP it will be difficult to say no to a UM offer, especially if its your dream school and you a hometown kid and your dad is a Cane fan.

naw alot of ppl didnt realize thats him.

Kids dad is a um fan obviouslly he was to....the reclassify muckied things a bit.....i dont thinkt hey ever dissed um or anything or had a funny recruitment.... Belichek sold the goat football coach stuff and nil.

Kid is playign as a true freshman wish he was here cause i think he is a solid cb...but it is what it is he will have to see us for the next few years.

I agree but we don't know how much it was...and his pops is the one bringing home the bacon...I'm gonna take care of my old man 1st...dreams will be deferred but if it's meant to be he will come home

True true tough to say no and Bill had to overpay. Imagine Bill trying to use his “charisma” he doesn’t have any. So you basically going for the dollars, which is fair but taking the money plus a personal relationship is the better option long term. Short term facts you have to take the money. If it were Manny or all the previous coaches after Butch I would 10000% take the bag. But Mario would give me something to think about.
