Carol City

Quite a few head scratchers during this recruiting cycle.

*Not recruiting Wright, one of the most explosive players in Dade.
*Not recruiting Ray or Dorlus, two explosive South FLA Defensive Tackles...but then we sign concrete-feet Jalar Holley.
*Not recruiting Boetang but then stealing a 240lb kid from App State.

I feel like this is Golden's recruiting all over again.
We're still passing up local kids that have offers from programs superior to ours. Makes zero sense.

Staff never offered Ray and Wright. Not sure why on Ray too be honest.

But I wish more schools down in South Florida were like Lakeland with UF. That's a feeder school.

The kids in Lakeland actually feel community pressure to go to UiF. The kids down here at best receive ZERO pressure to "make the crib great" and at worst receive maximum pressure to "make the highest bidder great".

The same Maurice Smith that we were too late for to surpass Boston College, flipped on signing day from Boston College to FSU? My God man. This is just....

That's the thing though...if I were him, and in UM's backyard, at one of our number one feeder schools, campaigning for an offer for years...I would be ****ed when they came crawling in late too. This is what made Devonta Freeman awesome for them...he wasn't the biggest of the fastest but he played with a "**** you" edge.

We never learn. Every coach we get pulls the same ****.

They don't get that there are kids like Wright and Smith (and before that Quincy and Freeman) that carry weight with other players and need to be part of your class, even if they are a little on the small side.

This year is annoying because it was pretty clear early on that we weren't getting McIntosh...so why not just take Wright and keep recruiting MAR, Williams, etc for the other RB spot? We had Eguakun in the boat...but why does that disqualify Smith? We don't want competition at that spot? Don't think either of them can play a position other than center?

Guess dropping Daxon (who everyone seems to drop, going to OHIO U) and not recruiting well is ruffling some feathers at CC.

Total bs. We can't win no matter what we do with recruiting. There's always a new narrative about what is going on.

But yet still offering a **** ton of LOCAL kids...Our staff doesn't have to agree with every other staff out there. Miami looked at Munoz/Ray/Kancey/Dorius...They took the one they liked best.

And that makes sense to you?
You think our staff is the smartest guy in the room?

And they didn't take "the one" they liked best. They signed out of state kids at DT instead.

No, I don't know who the smartest guy in the room is...They took the guy they liked best out of that group of all undersized DT you just listed (Munoz), and Munoz senior tape in my humble opinion, pops.

I don't understand what part of that "doesn't make sense" to you? There are a lot of local offers out there, this year...There are a few kids you want them to offer that they didn't, that's gonna happen every year...You may be right/they may be right.

It's pretty simple to understand.

If the top team in the entire ACC offers a South FLA Defensive Lineman...
...a team that has raped UM 2 years in a row and has multiple 1st round draft picks on their DL...
...yet Miami doesn't...
That's probably a sign that we don't know WTF we're doing!

Unless you're telling me that you trust Miami's evaluations over Clemson's.

These coaches are flying down here and saying "Miami didn't offer you?!" before they take our kids.
