Canes Warning is back at it

other than the food being burned and then arriving cold, it was a really nice meal from a restaurant ranked in the top 25 in the city.

other than his broken spine and skull fracture, he thankfully wasn't injured when he fell from the roof of the parking garage.

Are you new to following sports or something? This fan reaction has been completely typical and expected, and, actually, is much milder than what you would find at an SEC or Big 10 school. I believe Tennessee and Penn State recently had student marches. Meanwhile, you're complaining about a few internet posters saying mean things.

Losing to FIU is a new low for a program that had already been rotting on the garbage heap. You can't equate that loss to a potential one to Louisville, and you can't dismiss or downplay it with hypotheticals. It was an abject failure - and an utter embarrassment to the university community, the alumni, and anyone who has ever worked or played for the university.

Diaz deserves the scrutiny. He signed up for it, and he's made his own bed. And it's entirely within his power to make it go away with a great 2020 season.

Definitely not surprised. I knew our fans would start calling for his firing as soon as we lost to Florida.

Our fans def ain’t mild though, let’s be real. Are you new to this board?

I said Manny deserves scrutiny. We lost to 2 G5’s and some other bad teams. But him being fired after year 1 was never realistic. Either he will get it right or get fired next season, but if you think he deserves the type of **** said about him by our fans then we will just have to agree to disagree.

My man said, “other than 3rd & 4th down, they were top 25 across the board.” Lol.

So when it came time to get off the field or make a stop, we sucked.....other than that, championship caliber football. Lol.

Bro; can’t make this up if u tried. Lol. “Guys, guys....listen, sure we let the O stay on the field, and you are correct, when we needed a stop on 3rd & Long, 4th & Long, we got our @$$es handed to us! Other than that; we were rock solid like Peter North in the mid 90’s.”

Eh... Manny brought all of this on himself. He's only got himself to blame. With the talent we have, he lost to FIU, Duke, GT and La Tech. I'll spot him UF, VT and UNC but the other losses were unacceptable under any circumstance.

All of that false bravado, and you lose to two G5 teams, Duke and a GT team with no threat of triple option and chop blocking...

So yeah - f*ck Manny.

Lol ok. You’re free to be whatever kind of “fan” that you want to be. I wasn’t exactly expecting to change anyone’s mind...

I have no idea what every single fan has said about him, or what specific comments you're referring to. I doubt Manny Diaz is aware of those comments either.

Diaz is a public figure making over $3 million dollars a year to coach football. Putting up with fan anger after an historically bad season is part of the job description.

That's about as deeply as I'm looking at it. If someone specific said something threatening, then that's obviously different. But calling for a coach to be fired after the year he's had seems pretty normal to me.

Not a Canes Warning fan but I kind of agree with some of his point. The vitriol Manny gets as HC, considering he’s done it for 1 season is ridiculous and over the top. These same people would have fired Dabo, no question.

That being said, the defense did noticeably take a step back this year. Was that because of Manny being less hands on, Baker struggling, apathy with the offense or just not being as good? Idk could be a combination. But our D def wasn’t dominant this past season.

last in 3rd down conversion rate is not good for your defense.

If we look at this from an offensive perspective, what it we were dead last in 3rd down percentage, but in the top 10 for points scored. Would we call that a ****** offense? Isn't the point of defense to defend against points?

How do you even grade our defense with how utterly ****** our offense was this past year.

Am I the only one during the LA Tech game thinking that if our defense doesn't score a TD we have no chance?

Not being good on third and fourth downs means we weren't able to get stops when needed. Baghdad Bob over here would have a lot more credibility if he occasionally acknowledged that our team is flawed, which he doesn't seem capable of.

Exactly?

How in **** do you brag about being good on first and second downs only? Are we just conveniently forgetting a 4th and 18?

You get what you pay for. What we have is a green head coach and a green defensive staff....will they better, maybe, but that is pie in the sky to act like they were some kind of world beaters last year.

In their defense though, with our pathetic offense, they spent a lot of time on the field perfecting only being decent on first and second downs.

And let's not forget, the guy you want to be our head coach had the 40th rated offense with 4 Senior OL and a first round QB.

The bottom line is that stats/rankings don't and can't tell enough of the story to evaluate ****. Clearly, the stats/rankings of the Miami D are skewed (a lot) by the ****** schedule/offenses we played, and the D's (numerous) failures on money downs and in game-deciding situations are not captured (at all) by the stats. Maybe the D would've been a lot better if the offense wasn't so inept, but we'll never know, because the offense was inept. I think it's reasonable to assume/guess that the D would've at least been a little bit better if the offense didn't suck so bad, but who knows? What we DO know is that, when actually challenged, in real games, by good teams, and put in game-deciding situations, the D failed miserably and clearly was not as good as those stats/rankings suggest that they were.
