Canes still leading the nation in TFL

Yep.

And consider this: That stat doesn't count all the times we were in the backfield disrupting the passer or running back, where we didn't make the TFL but otherwise affected the play. This turns into incomplete passes, interceptions, running backs not hitting lanes, etc. The TFL is just one data point of our overall 180 in disruptiveness.

We dictate now. It's beautiful, and it's the way it should always be.

Stats be damned. You really only need to watch about 3 plays on defense to see the difference. It's night and day, and it's the best thing about watching 'Canes football (again).

Does this really surprise any of us? The old scheme was wait until the opponent runs a play like it was practice, and catch up with them downfield. I think everyone knew that an aggressive approach would turn it around.

Not the only improvement. Run defense is 39th was 103rd last year. Pass D went from 43rd to 38th and sacks went from 64th to 18th. Total defense went from 70th to 24th.

Diaz has that savage in him behind the scenes, that the defense can relate to on the field. It's beautiful to watch.

But yet posters on this site sh*tted on him when he was hired. Diaz is legit

It was mainly that Golden showers guy who was begging for Aranda or Brown.

Chise was in wait and see mode; but he has so many **** groupies it makes it seem like the board was against the hire.

Im still cautious. Diaz is always good year 1. Its after that his defenses seem to fall off.

Should be good. All of the front 7 coming back and adding more talent there. Only question mark will be the dbs. A great front 7 elevates the play of them though

TFLs: 105th ––> 1st

Makes our 6-4 record that much more disgusting. Those defensive numbers are too **** good all the way around for 6-4.
