Does he have vision because Fletcher dont , he’s like ray charles running down hill .Hes good and will wear a team down but there a reason when Pringle gets the ball he’s 4 yards pass the Los before he gets hit

There are threads on it from a year ago discussing how if we went after an RB1 Lyle was likely to bolt if we did. We had to pay up as well to retain him, etc.

It was also a running joke with @JHallCanes a minute.

Back to present day, he hasn’t played in weeks, did little when he was in. Never on the injury report since coming back from his “respiratory ailment” cough cough

Can @DMoney or @Crbby confirm this ? I’m not sayings it’s not but there’s too many rumors on here.

Last year, you and others wanted to pay a million dollars for a kid who finished as Oregon’s sixth-string RB. It was a bad plan.

The team’s plan was to see if any of our Top 10 high school backs emerged. It turned out to be Pringle instead of Lyle, who underperformed our expectations. As a result, we struggled running early and are running better now that Pringle has seized that spot.

Do you want to replace Pringle? Fletcher will play the same winning role he’s played every year. It’s more about Pringle, since he’s the guy we’re all projecting as our top runner. There is only one ball.

I think the staff will consider any great player in the Portal. It’s a case-by-case deal. But I still don’t think spending a ton of money on a Portal back before QB or DL makes much sense. And we have bigger needs at TE and LB.

Money is not infinite and we have to think like a pro team.

Get someone on Browns level cost wise but who is actually explosive. Lofton should either portal out or switch to RB/FB which is what you’ve said is his best position in practice. Fletcher should declare for draft. Brown is fine. Lyle will portal. There is money for RB. I wouldn’t break the bank. But we need someone good who is good value

Wisely spending money makes sense whether that be on an RB1, QB1 or DL. DL has been a multi-year issue, so you didn't hear we should pass on one from me. QB1 we found ourselves late in the game because we waited and/or misjudged players like Mateer and Mendoza. Our QB room was and is hot garbage and the smoke screen of Emory as QB1 was exposed during the Pop Tart Bowl. Seems like we are right back there in 2026.

Back to RB: Lyle and Fletcher were retained for $$$, so it is not like we paid nothing for our RB room. If the Oregon RB was a bad plan, he and Lyle are about net/net in terms of "bad" plans. We heard next to nothing during this discussion last year about Pringle and next to nothing about Pringle until Fletcher got hurt (again) and Lyle was a bust (suspended/dog house) and then the offense changed. So counting on Pringle in December 2024 is a little embellished history. I have no issues with Pringle, but I also have no problem recruiting over him if a better back is available that fits the overall plan. Recruiting over players is necessary.

There are elite backs in college football. Miami had those at one time. It would be good to watch them again at Miami. If we have to miss on those to make up for gaps at other positions in Year 5, like the misses/evals at TE/LB, then that is the business of college football for the staff to review.
