I guess especially now, there are a bunch of ex-Canes (in all sports but i'm thinking of B-Ball) playing elsewhere... due to Transfer portal, Covid, Coach L, whatever.

Speaking for myself, anyway, I find it interesting keeping tabs on how well they are doing (or not.)

So I started a thread, and to start, seems Timberlake's first game at Memphis just saw him 18 minutes, 7 turnovers, 2 points.
Wish him well, but, uhhh, better there than here perhaps.

(Edit-upd... as posted by DLO in another thread... Chris Lykes seems to be looking good (in practice anyway) so far at Arkansas. TIme will tell, ofc.)

Doesn’t surprise me one bit on Timberlake. There were very few on this board that were devestated about that loss. I still can’t fathom how he was rated a 5 star talent

That Timberlake line had me cracking up. Dude's awful

Early reports from Louisville is that Matt Cross is fitting in nicely. They like his skill set and toughness, and think he's more than just a shooter. They're expecting major production out of him for the next few years.
I'm not surprised. Would like to know exactly what led to his leaving.

Cross seemed to be thriving here (started 9 games as a true frosh and was shooting 40% on 50 three point attempts). Junior Samuell Williamson was a McD's HSAA and plays Matt's position. Chris Mack also brought in Noah Locke from the Gators as a 3 point specialist.

Timberlake being a 5 star reminded me of Dequan Jones in that same regard. Probably a decent role player somewhere but kid had no business being ranked that high.

Lykes isn't necessarily a loss given he'd been at Miami for what like 7 years and had probably plateaued. Hope he can contribute on a good team.

Cross is the only one that 'got away' so to speak and his skill set would certainly have been useful.

Am I imagining or did Matt Cross leave due to not getting along with Chris Lykes?

I seem to remember something along those lines. Regardless Cross leaving sucked then, and sucks now. He had 15 last night for Louisville. I think he could be an ALL ACC type over next few years.

I still would like to have Timberlake. He is a good athlete, and I think he will have a nice career. Also Lykes had 16 off the bench for Arkansas.

**** Lykes is coming off the bench. Excellent move by Arkansas and staff. That’s his role

I wanted Cross to stay, but things happen. Lykes has always had a ceiling as a solid starting PG, but a super sub off the bench. Some guys are more valuable in reduced minutes as instant offense. Chris is that kind of guy.

16th ranked and undefeated Arkansas playing a feisty Northern Illinois tonight. Arkansas was down by 6 or so at 5 minute mark, and brought Lykes in then (who didnt start). 5 for 7 quick 12 points he brought them back and they are up 2 at the half. Go Chris.

UPD: Chris has 17, not bad off the bench, playing a lot couple guys injured a bit. 66-66 there with 8 to go as the Ol Chris (we dont miss) is 7 for 14 now and last 3-4 times just hogged the ball for a (failed) layup then fell down holding leg looking at refs (who ignored him, lol.)

Lykes finishes with game high 26 (8-16 FG) as UNI blows a late 79-78 lead and loses 93-80... much of that the Lykes we Love ball-handling, being fouled, and sinking 4-5 FTS at end.

Chris Lykes is exactly the type of guy you want coming off your bench to make a deep run in March. Wouldn’t be surprised if Arkansas makes another run this year
