We beat UVA last year in one of the worst season's we've had in 50-60 years. We beat Virginia by less than a touchdown this year.
...and yeah, this is where we start to see who Miami is. End of October into November been a tricky time for Miami in the past 15 years or so. Road games are a little colder and we haven't played well in the cold. We start getting into the grind of conference play and due to a lot of factors we are closer to the mid-tier of the ACC than we are to the top, so we end up in some dog fights and have ended up on the wrong side of those and sometimes it leads us to careen off cliff.
We have a chance at going 10-1 this year, but it could quickly turn into an 8-3 kind of year, too. Every game is going to be an adventure from here on out.
On topic, I'm not sure how Miami having another batch of talented players that get a late shot at the pros is something newsworthy. We literally have this same conversation every.single.year. We puff up these players based on what, idk...but many think these guys are Day 2 or at worst early Day 3 guys and they end up going really late, if undrafted. This group doesn't seem much different.
FWIW - I think Quincy Roche and Brevin Jordan have Day 2 talent...but with Roche's lack of sack production this year and Brevin Jordan never fully healthy and giving us a full season, idk where you would expect them to go. Roche's athletic testing will be very important as well Brevin Jordan's. Jaelen Phillips has the physical makeup of a first round draft pick (athletic testing pending), but he hasn't gotten it together on the field. D$ had a great comp for him with Olivier Vernon (a 3rd round pick). A really good pro, but we got at best 50 cents on the dollar out of him here. We're about the same with Phillips right now.
The rest look like Day 3 to undrafted guys to me.
