Can we talk about what’s ACC/Refs beef with Miami

No coach will win big here if Miami is officiated different from the teams we play. It's obvious just watch the tape.

Richt dealt with it, Mario is dealing with it.

It just makes the games harder to win.

If any of those calls late against Miami go for Miami against SMU Miami wins.

We should never leave a game in the hands of the refs. Period.

Our game plan has been horribly predictable and by extension easy to defend against. If it's because Beck lacks the ability to process and make throws is not for me to guess. I'll say I'd much rather see Emory or Luke or whoever is the worst QB on the practice squad miss receivers than Beck throw picks.

That said, the officiating has been horrible. The decline is across CFB, but definitely seems to be worse against us, maybe because I'm paying closer attention. Part of me thinks refs are now using replay as a crutch and have lost the quick thinking skills as a result.
While I agree and have been a Mega Mario Mope these past couple of days....Officiating will dictate momentum if they call **** in crucial moments like they did Saturday. It's a drive killer and added mental hoop to overcome for the players. Players will blame each other and/or get down on themselves, etc.

Dawson made an interesting comment today. Saying he thought false starts are overall up across college football this year. I read it that there is something defenses are doing to get offensive players to jump. He wasn't making an excuse, just was interesting he made it a point to say that. I just hope we are doing the same on defense

Having watched Miami football you think we are practicing something to give our players a tactical advantage? Was that a typo?

On a day we couldn’t afford it, the refs were awful. Earlier in the year, Marty Brown had the TD called back when they blew the play dead prematurely. We were in a good enough spot to overcome. Saturday was inexcusable from the refs

All this is pointless if Mario is not gonna chew the referees *** out of the sideline

I’m going to get killed for this comment, but I thought Dawson — for the most part — called a good game on Saturday.

I was there, in person, having my heart broken a second year in a row. Last two games I’ve attended were Syracuse last year and now SMU.

Saturday night I was out for blood. Someone needed to fall on the sword, whether that was Mario, Dawson, etc.

After watching the game back, listening to this presser, and reflecting, I came to the conclusion that we really beat ourselves. We did everything in our power to give this game away. And most of this performance was on the players.

During the Louisville game, it was clear that we were out coached from the minute the ball was kicked off. This game felt vastly different.

- Untimely penalties (most of them horse ****)

- Drops

- RBs missing open holes

That was the difference. If even one play goes our way, we win. It was just one of those classic ACC games where our opponent plays their A-level game against our D-level. And it cost us.

Hats off to SMU for doing enough to win the game. They made some great plays, but we handed them this win on a silver platter. And I normally don’t complain about officiating, but any objective observer would say we got shafted in that game. It was embarrassing. You can point to at least 5 game-altering blunders by the referees. It’s an utter embarrassment.

But at the end of the day, THE LOSS IS ON Mario. Historically, our team is never motivated or disciplined in these types of games. And that’s why we lose. But the players should take a long, hard look at themselves in the mirror and acknowledge that they gave this game away. Dawson and Heatherman did enough to put us in position to win this game a dozen times. At a certain point, the players need to do their ******* jobs.

Let’s see how this team rallies. The season isn’t over, contrary to popular belief. We can’t win out playing the way we have the last 3 weeks, but I only get 12 of these a year, so I’ll hold out hope we see a resurgence in the level of energy and focus that we saw the first few weeks of the season.

I, personally, think we need “cut it loose.” The players and coaches are moving like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders. Tell the kids to go out there and have some fun. I’m not saying you need to bring the turnover chain back, but that’s an example of how to shift the energy. The vibes are terrible right now and everyone on the field looks miserable. The team needs to get back to playing with swagger.

This is the one I’ve really been going nuts about. In what ******* world is this holding? Literally? We watch our games every week, Bain is held almost every snap. Genuinely. And it’s almost never called. But THIS is what gets called? If you’re just not gonna call it, fine. But you can ******* NOT let these tackles do what they do to Bain and then call this. This isn’t holding in any world in existence. It’s not even close to holding. It’s not like a 50/50 well maybe a ref interprets differently. It’s flat nowhere close to a hold.

Seeing Toney getting mugged won't help either

I’m not complaining **** about the refs when we have 12 ******* penalties and what 6-8 are pre snap?

One has nothing to do with the other. They seldom call holding on opposing O lines yet you see it constantly on film. They ignore obvious holding and pass interference in the secondary. And yes l, we earn way too many penalties of our own, but more than a few of those have been BS as well. We can complain about how bad the ACC refs are without denying our own lack of discipline.

It's sad that we have more passion about the ref's than our head coach. The MF'er makes 9 million a year. Pick a news conference and just lay into them. Go down the list of blown calls. It's going to cost you about 50,000. But to put it into perspective Mark Richt spent 1,000,000 of his own money to help build an indoor facility.

I really don’t think he is trying to avoid a fine

I agree, I didnt think we were outcoached at all, but that the narrative this ignorant fanbase runs with.

Players peed down their leg, and the refs took it home for the stangs.

Pick a school, pick a conference ... those fans are gonna say the exact same thing about getting shafted by the refs.

It's like succeeding in life for most folks: Gotta be good enough to overcome getting the short end of the stick from time to time
Indeed.

But while most fans probably feel that wag sometimes, it can also be true that a team in fact gets the short end of the stick disproportionately.
