Can we see a lot of Richards and Langham on opposite sides?

Watching our offensive formations on Saturday, I was extremely excited to see us move to consistent 4-5WR spread sets. Since Malik is going to currently need simple reads anyway, might as well help him identify the single coverages pre-snap.

That said, and perhaps we're saving it, can we get Darrell Langham and Ahmmon Richards on opposite sides of the field in 4-5WR looks?

Reviewing how defenses react to Richards' presence is really fun. Safeties are generally leaning and nervous as **** to his side. When he goes out, Langham steps in his place. Porque no los dos? Richards has more than enough ability and the attributes necessary to play in Harley's now temporarily vacated role. I also think Harley is better suited inside, but that's another thread. We have an opportunity.

If you place Langham/Thomas on one side and Berrios/Richards on the other, it's a really bad situation for Safety and LB play. You can switch Thomas and Herndon and play with a ton of run/bubble/vertical concepts. All from one personnel grouping. If teams play two Safeties way back with Langham and Richards on opposite sides, Homer benefits as well.

Perhaps I've missed it, but I'll be wishing and looking for this consistently trotted out there in the weeks after UNC.

No, we have Langham on a very strict pitch count. He comes in late for saves.

One of the most mind boggling things I've seen, after Bc I thought he would be getting serious burn. Then after Fsu it was guaranteed , well after GT....oh well ..... I can't explain it.

PS- LuCane on the while we are on this topic, what are your thoughts on a 2 RB Pistol Formation with Herndon in the backfield in a hybrid/FB role? Would we then be able to use DL and AR on the field from that concept? I would think the run and pass options created with Herndon as a lead blocker/receiver threat are pretty good, no?

I'd basically play Langham at Split End and Richards at Flanker. I love Richards at flanker because you can move him around and further freak out the defense to help Malik. Herndon's versatility allows him to virtually anything you need, but I'd try to keep him out of the backfield unless it's in motion.

The more the defense is spread out, the easier it has looked for Malik. Watching him throw angle routes to Homer and little sit down routes over the middle to Herndon nearly made me pass out with joy.

I know for sure there's a ton of stuff Richt can still do with Malik from spread sets and in short rolls (like the one where he launched a bomb to Thomas against GT). Just hope to see it out there against VT and ND.

Not really, most of his pt comes late

I am trying to think of a way to inject some creativity and unbalanced looks to our zone read running game. Granted when Herndon was in the backfield last year, we had Njoku, but he is really the only person we can put back there as a lead blocker (which I think we need in some instances) without tipping a guaranteed run.

Looking forward to this week's HurricaneVision breakdown. I can't see the field like you guys do during a game, but I feel like we really missed a lot of reads to put this game out of reach. We have to get that out of our system to beat VT and ND.

Agree with the 5 wide sets. It made their coverages very apparent. Nice awareness by Richt, who I think is doing a better job calling plays than many of us think.

We can also put them on the same side of the field with Richards in the slot near the goal line. That will give Rosier an option to do a fade up to Langham or a Quick slant to Richards (Hopefully he can hold on this time.)

Coach Richt said that they're going to see how they can get Darrell Langham on the field more. Right now he plays the same spot that Ahmmon Richards plays so that's why his reps are so limited.

But I think they're going to start giving Langham reps on the opposite side to see how that looks in practice before game day.

Its kinda strange how we are winning but still fine tuning our offense and defense.... strange in a good way bc we are going to be a better team than we are now by the time the ACCCG and bowl games roll around.

Imo Richards is the one I would move around bc he is the most talented, I would keep Langham where he is.

You'd think they move Richards because he has more Flanker attributes than Langham. Then again, we had Berrios play on the outside last year, so who knows what we'll see. I know, I know, "depth." (We won't go into that debate again)

I don't care what the coaches need to do, or who needs to sit (outside of Richards), but Langham needs to be seeing the field with a large snap count, period! And I've been saying this since game 1. The guy simply makes plays, and he is a matchup NIGHTMARE for college DB's, becuase he has good hands, knows how to use his body and he has ELITE body control for a guy his size.

Its **** near criminal to not find snaps for this guy. He's a gamer, and he's been our savior for 2 **** games! What more does the man need to show you? PLAY THE MAN!!

And yes, Richards and Langham on each side with Berrios or Thomas in adjacent to both would be MURDER on defenses! Give the people what they want. Richt!

They play the same position. Seems very rigid that way.. richt was asked specifically about Langham and he made it seem that he rotates with Richards and can only be in game if Richards comes out.. that's why Harley plays soo much on other side..

Berrios plays slot with jt4 backing him up.. only time they both are on field is when we go 4 wide n remove te.. berrios moves to te spot essentially

Big Shot Lang actually smokes cigarettes on the sideline in warm-ups until the start of the 4th quarter.

Yea it's confusing. If he's good enough to depend on late he should be able to see the field early.

Would love it if they stuck with the top performers and kept the rotations to a minimum, maybe there would be more consistency then.
