Can Al be Dan Mullen?

It's a legitimate question but not one that will get legitimate responses here. I would like for someone familiar with both programs and coaches to answer that. My uneducated guess is that Mullen would use what he has and max them out - players over scheme. Al has shown he is the opposite, so no.
 
Forget Al Golden. Dude sucks. That comparison should have never been made.

But the thing about Mullen is right. Dude was a corch ten months ago. There was no yearly improvement in his first five years. This is one of those years where everything comes together for a program: experienced QB playing well, favorable schedule, tons of upperclassmen, etc. This is the type of program that has a Cinderella season and then hits 7-5 the very next year, right where they always are.
 
Mississippi State has no winning culture NONE. Almost zero pressure. This is all new to them enjoying the ride that's it 2 different boats

I agree with everything you've been saying, until favorable schedule. For the last 3 games, they've played @LSU, Texas A&M, and Auburn. If Golden went through that schedule he'd tell you that this was the hardest schedule in the history of football (even though it's just a rough stretch).

First and foremost comparing Miss St to Miami in the first place is laughable. Second, Im one of those that thinks it is premature to actually judge Mullen just yet, there isn't enough sample size of him winning to crown the guy just yet. Still, coaching Miss St in the SEC is an uphill battle. They have never had a good program there, never had the elite talent to compete. They have always been a bottom dweller. Now he finally has elite talent, and he has been able to produce, but it's important to note that the SEC has been relatively down compared to the past decade or so where they were dominant. They are running on name alone right now. They don't have an elite team at the moment. Nothing resembling some of the squads LSU, Bama, and UF have trotted out there recently.

Stopped right there. In no way did I compare Miami to Mississippi State.

Mississippi actually is one of the highest per capita producers of D1 talent.

Yeah, I don't totally disagree, but LSU has shown to be pretty mediocre this year. The favorable part in my mind was having those last two at home. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking anything away from their accomplishments, this just looks like a one-year-then-back-to-normal type season for them.

I think number wise there is some comparable stats. The biggest issue is that Miss St is in the SEC West. Not the ACC Coastal. It's different going from Alabama to Auburn to LSU in weeks. Not Wake to UNC to Duke.

Precisely. Good call. Everything came together for one year. Four losses the year before, four losses the year after.

It would be great if we were #1 in the country again under this regime but it sure doesn't look like it. Canes ain't even close. Someone told me @ the game on Saturday that AG hasn't fired any of his coaches in his 9 years of being an HC or somesuch. Just kill me now.
